I put a point in thorns

was it wasted ( I have a plus 2 skills so lvl 3 for 1 point)
I just can't tell if its better than HOW or oak.

Unless pvp against a melee character.

But for pvm its useless, even with a level 50 spirit of the barbs (1030 percent damage returned) and a level 50 thorns aura (2210 percent damage returned) and a level 50 Iron Maiden (1425 percent damage returned) for 4665 percent damage returned and a monster that makes a 100 damaging hit (wich is high) that would only give him 4665 returned damage, if he hits ofcourse wich is something anyone tries to avoid, he also has to hit melee, ranged and magical doesn't work.
Now say it has about 15000 hitpoints, then he needs to land a succesfull hit atleast 4 times.

In pvp on the contrary, it can quickly decimate any melee character, even a spirit of barbs at level 10, thats why its most then not frowned upon in pvp.

No, even PvP it's useless. It's reduced by 1/12, then 1/6, then phys resists, making a lvl 40 SoB useless.

Hmm, lol, then it really sucks (i heard from hearsay that it could selfkill a WWer in one WW through some summons).

Yes, it CAN kill through summons, but thats it.

Summons are different in that when they are hit in Pvp, they take full damage from the attacking character. If a smiter hits you for 5k dmg, you will only recieve 1/6 of that, if he attacks your summons, they take the whole thing :). This means that only the 1/12 penalty is applied w/ summons for SoB, not the additional 1/6, meaning that the smiter is accepting 6 times more damage from your summon than he would have by hitting you.

Ah, so there was some truth from what i heard from hearsay. :)
Thats probably the reason why many don't like it and ask to not use thorns (via aura) or iron maiden (when a necro with summons) or sob as a druid with summons.
