Re: I feel D3 is too much like WoW because...
2. because it takes diversity from the game and simplifies it too much
3. designing your charracter is one of the funniest things to do. If you mess up with the stats, you could alter them with respec??
Respecs (re-specialization) makes for a more diverse set of players. Why? Because why spend the time to get to level 99 with an ice sorc, and then make an entirely new character to get to level 99 just to try out a tweaked ice build? I'm not doing that. Do you know how long it takes to legitly get to 99? It's ridiculous.
Now, I'm more prone to try a different build with a character without the fear of knowing that, because of one bad move on the skill tree, I'm screwed out of hours stacked upon hours of time.
Autostats...we'll see. I feel this will make the game much easier to balance since the stats are set. Stat manipulation doesn't stop at the UI...I'm sure that items will give us the same features, just in a more random format.
Essentially, the success of autostats is going to depend on equipment.
2. it's just unrealistic and lowers the age of the game. Respeccing could be done bit more realistic way by allowing players to respec one or few skill points per day. so a total respec would take, say, a week? Would be like learning new things and forgetting old
What's with everyone and "realism"?
Do you get skill points irl?
How about this: No matter how many points you put into a skill, sometimes you just can't learn it because you don't have a natural predisposition towards it. That's realistic, isn't it? Let's make the characters
completely random too!
1. skill cooldowns
2. a plague in WOW. you needed adons to manage the cooldowns
Have you ever played Diablo 2?
1. gear will look like it came from space aliens
There's nothing to support this so far. All the gear I've seen has been very thematic towards the classes. Now, WoW on the other hand...
2. WOWdesigners tried really hard to make people JAWS drop when they saw the sets. They did very good job but they forgot to keep the look faithful to medieval, troll, orc and elve worlds.
In WoW, they didn't design the set items to look like they belonged on a certain race. They designed them to look like they came from a certain place, which I felt they did a really good job with (besides Tier 1).
even more speculation
1. pvp is one big boring grind, no risk, meaningless 'deaths', respawn after respawn
Kind of the definition of standard PVP isn't it? There is no risk in PVP in any game. What, you die? What PVP game do you not respawn in besides PK in D2HC? Every PVP game is a grind; it's up to you whether it is meaningless and boring or not.
massive speculation
1. quests, quests and, guess what, even more quests. quests givers on the left, quest givers right, quest...
Every play Sacred 2? At least the quests in WoW made some sort of sense and they tried to make them entertaining, even though you basically did the same thing over and over with a couple different variations. I do really hope the quests in D3 are much better than the standard fare.
If it's a fetch quest, Blizzard, please make it an interesting one and then we're good.
