Those of you who have been coming here for some time now know what this is all about. For those that are newer and read the title: No, I’m not kidding. First up was my lightning sorc Chainlightning, after that came the hammerdin Possessed, third in line was the LF amazon Lightning_speed and now here we are.

A long, long time ago I said I could make this a sept. Never thought I’d be able to complete that. Yet somehow I got further than anyone before and with this character I’m even past the halfway mark (and yes I know that still doesn’t mean I will complete it :p).

So I guess it’s time to present the man of the hour, my summoning necromancer Raising_dead. He’s mostly based on the first necro to make it to 99, the one our marvellous Marvel did. He does have a few items that differ though. But first, let's watch some video

After that points were divided a bit between blood golem (7 hard points for even sturdier iron golem) and bone wall (11 points for increasing bone armor).


It took 5.727 runs to finish this guy. Which brings my total of Baals to a whopping 17.445 runs. If I leave out the 462 runs that weren´t done on p8/3 that’s a few runs shy of 17K (and still no Tyrael’s :().

Getting one character to lvl 99 is very, very impressive...Getting 4 different classes to lvl 99 is simply insane, i mean, huge congrats ;) Who will be the next one - Barbarian?

Congrats! That's SPF history right there, wasn't it a tie between you and DC with three 99ers each before this?

What about taking your chars (meaning 99 candidates, I know you have real mf chars too) to 97-98 in Pits/At from now on if you want to have a shot with Tyrael's. :p

Yeah, what's the plan with the Assa/Barb/Druid? Nihlathak for last level could be a real time-saver with some, couldn't it? :)

Thanks for the kind words SPF dwellers. :)

Something i forgot to mention: Bone armor was quite an important part of the build. It saved my life on multiple occassions. And it helps to play a more agressive playstyle where you can telebomb even Lister and his pack (with some care).

@Grape Yeah, we had 3 each. Still i'd say DC's feat is more impressive as he did it in HC, whereas mine are all SC. (but that doesn't mean i'm not proud of having one more than a legend as him ;))

Plans for now is to play a few other games to get a bit of distance for a bit (with the possible exception of some MP). If history repeats itself after a bit i'll be coming back casually at first and then focus on one build more and more.

Haven't made a final decision yet, but for now it looks like the barb will be next. Quite frankly i'm mostly glad none of the remaining chars needs to summon an army first. :D Have played a bit with the druid before and it was not easy. Maybe a few lvls and some more experience on playing him will help. Perhaps i'll alternate between him and the barb in order to keep it fresh and keep them both moving. Assassin is likely to be last as i'm still trying to shop those 3/3 claws, as you could see on the summoner vid (had to pass there anyway in order to raise army). Added benefit would be ending (if i ever get this far) with a char that should be able to do runs relatively quick.

Probably none of those will go looking for Nihlathak. I know it can be fast and nice runes can be found there, but frankly the place scares me. Way too easy to die, which is something i don't like. Not even in SC. Especially at high lvls. So far the plan is: Barb -> Diablo, druid and assassin -> Baal.

Meh'd. Expected you to take on assassin next. Then I'd have some initiative to get to 99 on assassin faster than you. Oh well... let's hope I find job so I can scrap that lvl 99 project completely.

Nice effort (350+h?) Second hardest char done. Still having nightmares of leveling druid to 96 so you should stream whole thing so everyone else can feel better about themselves watching you go insane :p

Assassin is likely to be last as i'm still trying to shop those 3/3 claws, as you could see on the summoner vid
Waitwat. If assassin gets so much love where are 3/20/OrtLo diadem, 2/15/allress nec ammy and Pride IG? I guess you aren't into guys and decided to throw all love to girls..

My summoner can never run p8 that fast. What is your trick? Is it the Beast Axe you are using (which I don't have)?

As for the Tyrael's: my memory could certainly be off, but I vaguely remember running some numbers and thinking that when I found mine after roughly 25k AT runs I was around even odds to have done so. That could be off, but assuming 25k AT runs is around 40-50% to find a Tyrael's and remembering that Baal runs are drastically worse for items than AT runs (or Pit runs, or Pindle, or kicking barrels, or Normal Andariel, etc.) it's quite possible that by the time you finish the sept you'll be approaching 40% to have found a Tyrael's from these runs. I was hoping that would sound more exciting and hopeful than it does, but "hope" and "Tyrael's" don't fit too well in the same sentence.

P1 for clearing throne, p8 for waves and p3 for Baal.

Not sure what the difference is with yours as i don't know your setup. Could be the lvl 40 summons, or the beast, or infinity on the merc.

And while mentioning infinity... If you're running waves, but are skipping Baal then BotD is the preferred choice. However if you're including Baal in your runs then stick with infinity. The added CB and chance to hit is worth it.

I'm pretty sure hell Baal over kicking barrels or normal Andariel. ;) My number of runs on AT's is only 8.5K. But i guess we have an MFO to do something about that. :)

The odds of a Tyraels are indeed pretty bad. A quick back of the envelope calculation gives on average 1 Tyraels per 99471 baalruns with 200 mf and 1 per 69234 AT runs with 5.8 bosspacks and 500 mf. (disregardoing all minions, which would improve the odds slightly. )

Then again you can get lucky, my Tyraels was only the 3rd or 4th level 87+ unique sacred armor I found. On the other hand it is also perfectly possibble to identify 20 templars in a row.

Yeah, pretty close, I'd say. The map I was running then was 5.8 bosses, but the average is almost certainly some lower over the course of 25k and I normally ran with about 520 MF, so 32% is probably about right.

What we can conclude here is that I'm not unlucky. Then again I've never found a Cranium Basher, so I'd say that basically evens things out. ;p
