hydra is really insane ??

Hi

why my merc. dies so easy for hydras ?? he have 75% fire resist... i resist the same, and hydras do "nothing" to me. It's a bug ?

I believe it's a bug. I've read about somewhere in the merc faq (posted in the amazon sticky thread I believe) although I don't know anymore about it. Apparently, to get around it, you need to increase your merc's max fire resist with guardian angel or something like that.

Perhaps someone more knowledgeable can fill me in, I'd be interested to know more too.

It's indeed a bug. However, the normal measures should be enough. Try getting your merc + max fire resistance, fire absorb or integer magic damage absorb - as found on Mal runes. Forinstance, by combining guardian angle with thieves crown.

Note however that it's only a merc (and perhaps summon) bug. You however won't be taking that much damage so you can either tank the hydra's your self, or get a summon - like dedoy, that's how I do things - to tank the hydra's for you.

I red somewhere that hydras do 'boss' kind of damage to merc, so its hurts a lot. Is it 3-4x more damage to merc then, not sure.

I use Tal-armor with merc (40 fire resist -15 magic damage) and he can tank quite nicely those council members in travi or wave3 in throne. Maybe dies once per 50 runs to those hydras. Still need to be very carefull when conviction aura is near.
Merc has Reapers Toll too, so he has very good life leech too. Shako as helmet.

What level are you? At **+ mercs especially barbs and deserts, tank hydras easily, especially if the merc have a coh on.
