HoZ or sanctuary for smiter?

Well im torn between hoz and sanctuary troll nest.

I have been told you can up a hoz? do they mean just adding 1 socket and an um, or can you runeword your hoz?

upping/amping means changing from normal to exceptional, or exceptional to elite,

1st one is
Tal, Shael, P Diamond in cube, & next higher is
Ko, Lem, p Diamond in cube...

so if i put a hoz with ko/lem/p diamond what will the additional stats be?

Upping it means that it will change from a Gilded shield to a Zakarum shield. It will change the base def of the shield...and the base damage for smite. I makes a HUGE difference in damage for smite, and about 100 more def then a reg HOZ. Eth upped HOZ will add more defense but not more damage. Non eth HOZ can get to around 600 def, Eth Upped HOZ can get into mid 700s. As far as HOZ or sanctuary...HOZ by far...damage is far better with it, and sanct can get to 75 resis, hoz can get to 71 and has skills/stats/block etc... That is my $.02

Upping a HoZ dosen't neccessarily add that much defense, but the smite damage will indeed increase heavily.
And as for the Sanctuary - the highest res a Sanctuary can get is not @75! It is @115 (@45 base + @70 from RW).
A HoZ will not have max @71 res. It will have max @50 - and socket it with an Um, and you will hit @72.

...btw. my smiter uses a @102 Sanctuary ST and is very pleased with it :nod:.
