If they do enable smilies there should be a feature that the receiver can turn them off. some people go nuts with smilies and i do not need to have a seizure everytime a friend sends me gmail with his smilie addiction.

Make attachments bigger. 1G max attachments would be ideal. I'd settle for 200 megs though.

What are you doing, mailing DVD rips to your friends? Learn some FTP skills my man. :teeth:

I don't know what I'd like to see in Gmail . . . it sure isn't smilies. But maybe an HTML mail option would let people do the smilie thing if they wanted to. (I hate HTML email, but options are cool, I guess.)

I'm a real fanatic toward gmail, the simple interface and the many options/features just rock, even though sometimes there are problems with attachments when you're using a foreign language. I use it a lot when I need to save something what I was in the middle of writing, and apply labels.

If you need that for personal file storaging, you can save attachments in a draft, and you can bypass the 10mb limit, as long as there aren't .exe files or such. The downside is that it can take a looooong time for saving.

    Couldn't agree more. :)

    another gig of space...

    lol j/k...

but seriously I agree that 10 meg attachments are too small. You can't email a good size powerpoint file with that amount of space.

What I would really like to see in Gmail is for them to stop reading any email sent to or from one of the accounts. I realize that this is unavoidable to a certain degree with any email provider, but they're not just looking for spam, they're looking for certain words. They already have all the equipment and software they'd ever need to start reading emails and charging people with thought-crimes.

I think Gmail purposely limits file size so people don't use an account to store certain things, like programs or games or other possibly illegal material. It wouldn't be long before you saw Gmail account names and passwords that had certain programs stored on them.

Gmail isn't going to bother with thought crimes, they just want to make as much money off of all of us as they can. No sense in getting their customers arrested.

Huh. In that case it may actually be useful enough to pay attention to it instead of letting it languish while more and more invites pile up ;)
