they said there would be health bulbs. what about mana bulbs? any spellcaster is going to be slinging spells right and left. how do you think blizzard will deal with mana hungry classes?

Hopefully we will have some sort of mana regen item or skill like Warmth for the sorc if we don't get bulbs.

If you look at the gameplay demo, there is a second bulb that lowered when the barb "stomped".

I don't recall seeing any blue orbs drop the way the red orbs did for health, so I would presume there would be in-built regneration as standard perhaps.

To make orb jobs feasible, they will need to have health and mana obrs. It just doesn't make sense to have just health ones. Obviously there is regen with health and mana, but at what point does it become almost a diminishing return.

The problem is, and I think it's already been risen, that with this system casters are going to have some hard time. Imagine you are fighting with your caster character from a distance and suddenly run out of mana and get low on life. Now you have to step into the bunch of enemies, risking death, and pick up some orbs or you won't be able to continue fighting. That's even a bigger problem for hardcore players. Similar situation: you are teleing through some dungeons with ghosts-like mosters and get hit by few of them. You have to stop and kill some of them to not get killed. And what if you run out of mana during teleing?

There has to be potions, bandages, a pally bubble or something to keep you alive and with mana.

Edit: Watching the gameplay video again. Notice in the first 20 seconds when the barbarian uses his skills, his mana replenishes very very quickly. And his health doesn't drop too much. These creeps must be doing 2 damage or our characters will have a larger defense then normal.

They've probably edited some mechanics during the gameplay video to showoff the game so don't take everything you see in that video as a fact. And remember that it's in pre-alpha. So it might not even have been decided yet. Time will tell :)

this is easily solved, dont telelort all over the place. play through the game and you wont randomly pop into a mob

Re: how will they deal with replenishing mana?

They could also just increase the base mana regen on characters so that you can cast spells reliably as long as you play somewhat conservatively. I don't think there is a need for mana orbs the same way there would be for health orbs because unlike health (presumably) mana regenerates naturally. Also, since there are health potions in the gameplay video it is also likely that there will be mana potions, which I would imagine are more useful than mana orbs would be anyway. As was already mentioned, to pick up the orbs you would have to be where the monsters are, but with a potion you can stay back and sling spells.

And yes, in the gameplay video the barbarian regenerates mana (or fury or stamina or whatever) at an alarmingly fast rate, allowing him to spam his spells all he wants. I doubt that this will be the norm for a character, especially at such an early point in the game. More likely, they just altered the character so they could show off the skills and other things they had done so far without having to worry about mana or difficulty level.
