It depends what build you use, what equipment you have, and what you're using the character for.

If you could give us a brief description of the druid you want to play, then it would be alot easier to help you. (PvP/PvM? HC? Wolf or Bear? etc. What items you got?)
Otherwise, we'd just have to tell you the obvious. That Oak Sage gives more Life and lacks Damage and Attack Rating while HoW doesn't. And that wouldn't be very helpful. :)

Just don't get both :)

A werewolf using fury would probably benefit most from OS.

A bow-weilding "hunter" would probably benefit most from HoW.

A werebear, with a higher base life increase and an increased defense, would probably benefit most from HoW. (haven't gotten close to building a bear so I can't say for sure)

its a fury werewolf im not sure on the items
i also thought of using grizzly and oak sage would give it a life boost.

I think oak is much better. Life helps you, your merc, and your teammates. How gives a nice dmg and ar boost, but considering how many points it takes its not worth it. Your mercs aura is far more important, not to mention the big boost you get from fury, fortitude, etc, etc, etc.

You can only get a % increase from life from Oak, cta, or jahs. You can get dmg/ar from mercs, tons of items, or paladin auras.

this isnt always true. You have enough skills to max fury/lycan/ww/oak/HoW for a pure fury druid if you want. sure you could make it a rabies/fury wolf .. but if your main point is physical damage then the HoW allows you more options.

HoW is good for pvm but oak is better for pvp

oak is good in pvm also

(for wolves)

I'd personally prefer the rabies route since it gives you a "real" set of options.

I cannot think of a time where I would need to do more damage but wouldn't also need more life, so I can't imagine replacing my OS with a HoW. As Garbad said, you can get additional damage from any number of sources, but the % life increase is relatively unique. (plus you deal a lot more damage if you aren't dead :) )

This works for me in general.

Elemental = Oak Sage
Shape Shifter = Oak Sage
Summoner = Heart of Wolverine
