How to tell if an item is a dupe

I recently traded for 2 IK items from someone on these boards, and when putting them on they did not give the proper bonuses, does this mean the items are duped or is there a nother possibility such as wrong info ont eh bonuses,

If you traded for the items on non-ladder, they could be 1.09 items, which would not give the new partial set bonuses introduced in 1.10.

I very seriously doubt anyone would dupe IK stuff.

theres a possibility that the site you are refering to for you set info is wrong. i believe arreat summit is correct, though, if you are using that.

Well, it's the same reason the president or CEO of a large firm doesn't spend his time cleaning the bathrooms at the office... it's just not worth their time.

If the item disappears on you, chances are it was a dupe.

    Hope that helps.

And after 1.10 came out there's a very low chance of non-rune item is a dupe (not talking about pre 1.10 items). They changed the way item id's work with 1.10 (which was supposed to stop all duping btw) and so only items like runes which can be transmuted to other runes in order to change their id are easy dupable. I keep on hearing about duped uniques like Tyrael's, but it seems they are absolutelly unperm and last very short.
And yes you didn't get the bonus, because it was pre-1.10 item. Even if it was a dupe it would have given you the bonusses if it would be post-1.10 item.

I guess that people dupe anything that needs more efforts to obtain than to dupe. If you are a duper and you need the IK armor or even just a pgem, but you are to lazy or too stingy to trade for it, then you will most probably dupe it.

If that's the case, then alot of people must dupe everything. It was pretty sad that someone in a game begged me for a chipped gem and 1K gold because he was too lazy to find the chippie or kill a few monsters for the gold...Sad indeed.
