You can't unless you use a char editor. Once you change the name on a char in windows the game doesn't recognize the file anymore. Maybe someone else has a way but the only one I know of is using a char editor.

You find all the same items, use the same skill/stat allocation, pick the same class, and get em too the same lvl...... :)

(Sorry, thats the only way i know how)

Latest version of ATMA can rename character. Someone said it makes new char (same char class) with same stats/skills/items so you will have them both then. But that is of course duping, so please delete the older version which has silly name :p

Lpr is absolutely correct on the ATMA thing. When you edit the name, it doesn't just simply change the name, but duplicates the character. One having the old name and one having the new.

Interesting, I did not know this, actually I didn't know that there was a new version of ATMA out either.

    Thanks!

It won't destroy the original character file, it is nice backup if something goes wrong. Imagine if the old one is destroyed and the new one won't open... :scared:

Just FYI this breaks the character if you do it in Mac OS as well.

I left it this way in case something barfs and the new file can't be opened. It is up to the user to delete the original file. I moght add an option to auto-delete the original but there should be no complaints is something goes wrong midway.

well this is kinda crappy if you ask me... while i was mping this weekend suddenly a lvl 99 guy dropped in named *omGNewBlaR or something like that...

lvl 99 barbarian, as he stated a pure 1.10 char...

After a while i figured that you casn download the lvl 99 chars from the ware house and rename them from Lod-amma to the name of your liking, and voila, you have yourself a lvl 99 amazone... kinda lame i guess

Bah, you can usually tell people like that by the fact that they don't know how to play the damn game. :D

I did this once to alter a name and traded some items without removing the old char. I did a dupe detection and found several dupes, enough to make me have the want to delete all my chars with dupes. I ended up only having a small stash and 4 chars all low lvls and only one which was mine. Thus starting from basically scratch. But since I play only items I find and only twink between my own chars I felt better knowing that I didnt have dupes in my chars.

*goes off and starts working through normal again*

    the advert???
ayway, my point is if someone doesnt delete the original either becasue they forgot or they are dupers, you now have 2 identical characters and any items that the new charcter finds are instantly classed as dupes by many,

It isn´t my intend to download a lvl 99 character and call it PeptoBizmo. I just started playing the game with my m8s. So I wanted to copy the character I used there, so I can play single player with it. And leave the old for playing with my m8s.
Is that what you call cheating or am I the only one that believes it is not really cheating??

Because we want to complete the game together. They also have characters at that level. But theay also have other characters too choose when playing alone. And I do not want to be much better than them when we are playing together.

It's what we call duping. 99% of the time in this forum, intentional duping = cheating.
