How to build a fun ele dru in singleplayer?

The question that bums me the most are: what skills to go for?
Considering my choice of items will be pretty desperate.
I have tried hitting things with tornado before, and frankly I hate it. So I would be really happy to try something else.
In addition, my ideas of playing ele are pretty plain... I have no clue about tactics... what merc to chose... go with melee(thus getting a shield and better res) or with missile weapons(and thus doing some additional damage)?
