how to beat the Diablo Clone?

I have to agree that the hammerdins have it made when it comes to DClone. However, if you can't afford all that, a good kicker or zealot with life tap, crushing blow, open wounds, and all that fancy junk will suffice just fine. If your resists aren't up to par use absorb or an aura (for you all-too-lucky paladins). If you're elemental, like me, shop for a lower resist wand before you engage him. I used one and my trapper took down the big D with no problem in less than 3 minutes. Too bad I have annis on my hell chars already...

If anyone needs help with the DClone on USEast Ladder, I won't take your charm just message *C_Narcissus.

Apart from hammerdin, the summarized answer is: anything that can hit fast and repeatedly, with % dmg to demons, crushing blow, deadly strike, PMH and yes, % to cast static.

So my winners are: frenzy barb (mine killed DC three times, solo), zealot (mine's stilll waiting for his first encounter but I'm very confident) or ww druid (I don't have one but it should work, in theory).

I think I'm ready for the next time I see Mr DClone... I bought a lower Res wand with 30+ charges. And I have some other gear to maz res and max damage. I hope my MeteOrb Sorc can take him down now. It would be GREAT if this little lower res wand makes that much of a difference!

Does Prevent monster heal apply to Dclone?
Yes ! I always use Blackhorn's Face deathmask when I run into the Clone.
Good posion damage may also work but the 'prevent monster heal' is a sure thing.

Grab two Dwarf Star rings, if you can, for the 15% fire absorb and plus 40 to life on each ring. If you don't have the rings they can be traded for some prefect gems here in the trade fourms.

Ele Druid's OWN D-Clone

I personally have the easiest time beating D-Clone with my lvl 86 Elemental Druid. The cyclone armor aborbs pretty all his elemental damage and with ss and the other gear I wear I cannot be hit by him. And hardly use a belt of potions through him.

Most, but not all, of the posters here who killed clone have high level characters with gear the average person can't afford.

Below is my Hammer Paladin's setup for Clone killing.

Level 78 Hammer Paladin (see Ragnarods guide elsewhere in Diabloii.net)

Helm; Blackhorn's Face..for prevent monster heal
Weapon; Nords Tenderizer..to apply the PMH to the Clone
Weapon; Wizardspike..fast cast, plus mana and 75 resist all.
Armor; Vipermagi..cast rate plus 1 skills and some resist all.
Shield; Harold of Zakaum..The only expensive item.
Glove; Magefist..for cast rate and mana.
Belt; Thundergod's Vigor..Works great for those pesky Black Souls in Act5.
Boot; Wartravelers..any boot will do for clone.
Amulet; Risingsun..for some fire absorb.
Rings; Dwarfstars.. for the fire absorb and plus life.
Charms; two combat and two offensive grand charms..also a bit costly

None of this gear is hard to get except the grand charms and the shield. Even they can be gotten if you have enough perfect gems and a bit of luck. My HoZ shield is low defence and cost 40 P Gems.

No..I didn't take The Clone down in 30 seconds. I died several times and used about 20 -30 life and mana pots and it took me 5-10 minutes I think; (maybe 15 minutes but I don't want to appear the noob.).

I do better now that my paladin is level 90 but still use the same gear. I was able to solo the clone in a multi player game about three weeks ago without dying and in less time.

A cheap but effective build is an IK barb. I used both WW and conc. He's not even an ideal build, but w/ a natures peace he took DC out w/o going back to town for more pots.

My hammerdin took over for the IK barb. Charge him wearing Natures Peace, then switch it for a soj and hit him w/ 12k hammers...

I find Stormlash or Schaefers is great because of the Static, for my zealot i start off with Larcerator(prevents monster heal) then as soon as hes hit switch to stormlash very quick and effective

when i got my anni in us east non ladder, i was soloing all the "pits" with my hamerdin, and the soj count was about 4500 and going up like every 15 seconds. i went to act 1 in case he appered to fight him in stony field and right then it happened. "diablo walks the earth". It was pretty late and only one friend was online, so i asked him if he wanted to help fight dclone, he responded with "sure but we'll probabaly die, l be there in a sec". so im waiting for my friend to come, i go to the stony field and see the clone at the cairn stones. i start hammering him and in 30ish seconds hes dead. i was honestly thinking THAT was it? the "world event" was so unbelievably easy. pindleskins minions give me more trouble than him... Anywho, at least it was easy to get an anni:p

Wow, a hour and a half?? I killed him in like 7 minutes with my hammerdin. He was level 84 with the following equipment, and had max res:

HOTO (perfect)
169 p diamonded hoz
sandstorm trek boots
skin of the vipermagi (perfect)
shako w/ p topaz
+1 cb skills pally ammy w/ res +
arach mesh
raven frost
dwarf star
mage fist
some gcs and life scs

My equipment wasn't uber, but i bought a bunch of healing pots and mana pots (mostly mana) and killed him fairly easily. This was in a 3 player game, and I jacked the anni. Very nice too, 19/12/10. Plus, I ended up w/ a lot of leftover pots. I didnt die once. Maybe I was lucky or something. Then, I went in one game that had 8 ppl and I died over and over w/ better equipment on but a little lower res. So, Hammerdins are the best. (if u wanna see mine (though it is not very good b/c of constant rip offs (look at my forum), my acct on uswest sc ladder is: sir_kretsim)

Less than 3 minutes, solo, with a lvl 80something conc/ww barb wearing full IK, dwarf star, and raven. Used about 3 pots (2 on my merc). Neither I nor my merc died.

My Story

Well, I never thought I would be lucky enough to come up against him. Last night I was doing some nm baal runs and got bored so I decide to switch over to doing hell Trav runs. I create the game (passworded) and right away - SOJ sold. So I think - Cool maybe I am on a hot server. 15 seconds later - another sold. I start to get a little excited. 15 seconds later - right as I am fighting Toric Isefist - "Diablo walks the earth" - Holy CRAP! I have been meaning to get a weapon with prevent monster heal (info I got from this thread). So I am stuck - I check all the merchants - nothing. So I try to take him on a couple times in the frigid highlands. He isn't owning me but his regen is just too much. I run out of mana pots and I die. I do this a few times and out of shear luck - my brother in law comes online. He is the only other person I know who plays. He has a blacktongue unq sword with prevent monster heal. He has no player in hell yet though. So I leave my game with fingers crossed and jump in his game to get the sword.
So I have prevent monster heal and am ready to take him on. I equip the sword on my barb merc and go to battle. After about 15 minutes of going back to town to ressurect my merc because the prevent monster heal wears off - I freaking run out of gold!!!

So - I go back into my brother in laws game and grab some gold and some rejuvs and this time I equip the sword on myself on the weapon switch. (I am a hammerdin btw) So I return and use charge with the sword a couple times and I hammer away. After about 4 minutes of hammers and charge every once in a while to recharge the pmh - I kill him. It wasn't easy but now that I know what to do right away - i think I could take him in about 5 to 7 minutes.

He dropped a nice anni too - 16/18/8 - VERy happy.

I am not rich either
Lvl 85 Hammerdin
Shako
+3 combat ammy
Atmas wail armor
Wiz spike
Rare ugrded targe with +2 pally skills and awesome resists
Dwarf Star
Raven frost
Trangs gloves
Nats Boots

One of the best D2 experiences ever!
