    How to avoid temporary ban?

So I was doing quick MF/key runs. I was doing Summoner, Countess, Andy, Mephisto, and Nilithak. Games were probably about 3-4 minutes long.

I got kicked of b.net and when I tried log in to US East again it would say something like "Your connection has been temporarily restricted from this realm. Please try to log in at another time." However if I log into US West or a different realm it works.

Last one I had lasted an hour. This one has lasted 10 hours!

Anything I can do? I know I'm suppose to wait as repeated attempts will increase time of the ban. But, come on its been 10 hours!
Also for future reference is there a way I can avoid this. I thought 3-4 minute games were long enough to avoid it. Though I did quit and make games in about 10 seconds, does that have something to do with it.

    Anyways b.net pisses me off...

The time between you leaving one game and creating/joining the next is too short ... Battle.net thinks you are bot.

Try resetting your IP by resetting your modem, or turning it off and back on.

Tsk tsk, Mr Gorny. Isn't bypassing a temp-ban against the B.Net EULA? He was banned for a reason, after all - spamming our lovely b.net with bunches of games and what have you. (devil's advocate is fun)

To avoid it make games at 10min. apart or stay in one game for no less than 10min. Thats a direct quote from Bliz in thier lovely FAQ about realm downs. (well, its direct instructions, may not be worded exactly)

    Meh.

    It's B.net.

I've used the same trick to escape a temp ban way back in the day.

Does that mean you advocate the use of key-swapping to get past temp bans as well?

It would seem that changing your sig to a more sinister O'Neil has made you a little evil as well. Fun stuff!

Just to keep pushing... Would this all mean you support programs in the stream of Realm Down blocking? =O

I read somewhere that if you wait 10-15 second between games you wont get banned.
I have only been banned once since I started this and thats becasue I think there is a game count limit per hour also, but I'm not sure about that.

Re: How to avoid temporary ban?

Its 20 games per min. or 10min per game, which ever comes first.

Also you cannot join/rejoin the same game more than 10 times within 10min (IE: searching thru mules for an item) this will result in a temp IP ban, not just a temp key/realm ban.

Did you mean 20 games per hour? And does that count games you join, or just ones that you create?

Re: How to avoid temporary ban?

Ouch, that's long...I usually get the long ones when I'm dclone hunting, they don't like the constant logging on and off bnet...

I usually change the mac address on my router and renew my IP address for a day or so when its a long ban. Maybe you have the option for that...should be under a menu like "mac address clone" on your router config. I use a linksys router, with cable ISP (time warner).

If not, as suggested earlier in the thread, maybe just resetting (unplug, plug back in) your modem will assign you a new IP.

Yes, per hour. Thanks for catching that for me.

Yes, games you join also count.

Eh, that's what I was afraid of. Now that I've got my dkeys runs down to around 1 minute, I guess I'll just have to take more breaks.

Re: How to avoid temporary ban?

Just farm more baddies per game. I currently run (in this order):

    Countess -> Andy -> Summoner -> Duriel -> Council -> Meph -> Nith

Fetches me at least one goodie each game and takes me exactly 11min.

Just an estimate - I get about 40 T-Keys a week, 20 H-Keys, and 20 D-Keys. At least 30 uniques worth Pul+. At least 2 random skillers. And several small charms worth thier weight.

If you have a good merc - anything. You can kill half of the council w/ just your blizz... urm... The rest honestly elude me at the moment. I think Arreat Summit has which bosses have which immunes.

Re: How to avoid temporary ban?

I myself never really get banned even after a good bunch of 5 minute runs. However, entering + exiting games too often gets me the ban.
