    Rebuild Contracts

With all these big multi million $ contracts going on, and suppose a recruiter come around asking you. How much would it take for you to work there?

The worst thing that can happen is you and your coworker get dragged away while you're eating at a restaurant, beaten into by an angry mob, shot in the stomach, burned alive, and then hung on a bridge.

To put a dollar figure to that risk, I think I'll do it for $50,000 per month.

It may be interesting to note what some of the mercenaries for hire in Iraq are receiving in compensation:

I always kinda have to stop and check the news again. When they said 4 contractors were killed, a lot of times they failed to mention they are armed guards.

After reading further on that, I don't feel too bad knowing that they're knew exactly what they're in for the $. Being BBQ-ed in a foreign land.

Although I do feel bad that there were people rejoicing in the streets and the picture of children stomping on the charred bodies of the slain Americans. I always thought there was a bottomline in basic civility that all humans share. But I guess I was wrong.BBQed Americans

Salary-wise it would probably take about a million a year for me to work in Iraq, so long as I was satisfied with the security precautions. But then, I happen to like exotic places, and strange travel destinations.

I'd do it for as little as $30k a year. Outside of the Sunni Triangle the country is safer than living in New York City. But since I can do my job here in the States and it applies over there as well, I'll just stay right here.

BTW, I already have done some work over there. I worked on the Al Salam Hospital in Kuwait. :D

I wouldn´t work as a mercenary for any ammount of money. In Iraq or anywhere else.

If it was any other kind of work I´d get on board pretty cheap. I´ve never been outside of Europe so going to Iraq would be worth a whole lot for me. I would probably be ready to do humanitarian/reconstruction work for room and board, which is practically what I get right now.

Are any volunteer organizations active in Iraq?

Makes a little more sense though doesn't it? When I think of contractor, I think guy in a hard hat not moving the cement because the union said so. So when I hear 4 contractors are killed and strung up on a bridge, it puzzles me. But I guess "Four mercenaries killed in Iraq" wouldn't sound as well. They are foriegn people with guns telling them what to do, that makes a little more sense.

The Red Crescent is working in Iraq outside of the Sunni Triangle. I know there are others but I don't know which. Try a google search and let us know

I googled it. Looks like there are about a million volunteer organizations in Iraq at the moment. Seriously... a million.

Depends on what I'm doing. If you offer me a job teaching people who actually want to learn then it wouldn't take much. Hell, I'd probably be willing to buy my own plane ticket.
