How many str a sorc really need? For spirit Monach

I know that monach has a 156 str req, and that normally people put only 95 str in their sorc, so is there ways to wear the shield without getting anni charms?

One other thing, alibaba requires a dex of 42, so should I invest enough dex pt to wear it?

My sorc has really weak gears as of now but I want to make it into an efficient mf character; that's why I want to figure out the most efficient way to spend my attribute pt.

I tend to make my first sorc with the idea that I will never be able to make a perfect build due to the lack of all the proper items...so...I usually just pump strength up as high as I need to use the spirit monarch as soon as possible. In the end it will only cost you about an extra 100 life or which isn't too terrible, but more importantly you get to use the items without trying to mess around with +str rings and gloves and so on.

Once you get all the war travellers and annis and torches and so on, then you can go back and remake the character with the absolute perfect spending of stat points and skills.

This has brought up an important question for me also. What sort of strength should you shoot for base to get to use a monarch, when you will never have access to Anni's or that sort of stuff (ie SinglePlayer). Right now I'm sitting around 120ish and I'm wondering if I should just leave it at that...

Fantom, just do what the guy above you said. My first Sorceress this ladder landed at 154 base str. The Spirit Monarch is your endgame shield if you don't go block and it's incredibly cheap. Just up your str 'til you can use it and don't worty about those lost stat points. Once you really have all the charms and other gear you redo your char all over again, that's what I did.

you can either do as above or if your confident you will get standard MF gear war traves will give you 10 str and shako will give you 2. other then that sorc wont get much for str boost aside from anni and torch i think.

I wouldn't even redo the Sorc unless you wanted to skill her out differently. Perfect Anni + Torch + War Travs (let's assume this is a Tal's sorc) is 50 pts = 100 life. Perfect STR ring (20) might be in the mix so you could possibly gain, say, 140 life from shifting stats around in a rebuild.

Overhauling a high 80s, possibly 90s MF sorc to gain that much - not worth my time. I never do it. I beat up everything in Durance 3 and live right now while my life is around 850, so once it's up to 1150 with nice gear, and I'm doing around 2x current damage or more... 140 more life means very little to me.

MF sorcs do not need perfect distribution of stat points to survive. One critical point I would suggest is to shoot for high vita instead of high block. Also, if you're not going to be using a merc with Insight, some points for mana isn't going to hurt you either (no, you are not a noob for putting points into energy). Generally, for new ladder Meph/Andy Bliz sorcs, I go with around 110-120ish base strength(collect strength charms till you get final gear) around 50 in energy(I tend to not use merc for meph/andy) and the rest in vita. At level 70, I start running meph and gradually add andy as my sorc gets stronger. It does take a little skill early on but with enough FCR gear coming from a spirit/wiz or spirit sword, you shouldn't have too much trouble getting to lvl 3 durance. Once there, it's easy pickings. Also, I suggest you do the cannot get quest trick while you're accumilating wealth.

Drop the Baba and go for a Gull dagger. It's just as cheap, if not cheaper and it doesn't require dex. Chances are you don't have the Ists to make it worth having Babas over gull

Why dont u just use low str req gg sub gear til u get +stats for the real thing? Its probably just me, but if I dont see myself getting all that torch/anni/trav stuff, I aint gonna just go head on and pump my str to 156. Instead, I use gear that require less str and are still able to get me to where I want. Be flexible.

have a look at the options available. I'm a firm believer in charms. Cheap and they do the job. Tals belt, whilst you lose the extra MF from a goldwrap, you get +20 dex which will be all the dex you need to use the ali baba.

For str, this is more complicated. Str rings are a great option as are str from WTs, Amulets, gloves. Charms work very well here too and lets not forget, you can use open sockets with a perfect amethyst for 10str a pop. (you can always resocket this later)
