how effective is leap?

how effective is leap?

I was planning on making a barb and after what I've heard leap is the perfect weapon against minions stackers. It will remove the minions, get your enemy in a very nasty stun lock, and knock you enemy back. So I was thinking how effectiv is this on leap at different levels? I don't have 20 skills points to place in this skills without sacrificing something else... so what is the minimum amount of skill points I have to put in, and does it knock back as much as the radius of your leap? And for how long does it stun?

Slvl ~20 after items minimum.
The kb distance (how far the opponent is pushed back) is the same as any other kb (items, tk, charge..)
The kb radius is hidden and increases with slvl, 20 will give you near full screen coverage, a little over on the sides, and meeting the top and bottom, but not quite the diagonal corners. Get slvl 24ish to kb anything you can see.
The "stun" length is two hit recovery animations played back to back, so it is dependent on the class you are fighting and how much FHR they have.

Hmm I'm not 100% about what you mean by radius and distance then... and does it have anything to do with the radius displaid on leap in the skill screen? :p

The "radius" displayed on the skill screen is the distance you can leap.Dont confuse them.

The real knockback radius what mcm is talking about is hidden bonus(causes knockback in a certain radius depending on level).The kb distance which he mentioned is merely the distance a character is knockedback after being knockedback.Sheesh! :lol:

So the opponement will go about one screen away at lvl 24, and then he will get further knocked back? :) Hmm well I was actually just planning on using it to knock back minions, getting enemy in stun lock, then tele / WW. :p But if it requires level 24 then it's gonna be tough :(

The kb distance is the same,mcm was clear.the radius increases with skillpoints.

B2=barb final position
N1=Necro


B1/ \B2____ N1______X

B2-X=Knockback radius. :fish: Anything within radius is knockedback.

3.Knockback distance

B1=barb initial position
B2=barb final position
N1=Necro intial position
N2=necro position after knockback


B1/ \B2____ N1__N2____X


N1-N2 is knockback distance :fish:-same with cleglaws,nef rune,bash etc..

anyways leap is godly, i cant believe i played a year on my barb without it.

Nice try rikstaker.

As for the numbers, knockback range is 2.66 yards at Slvl 1 and increases by 0.66 yards per Slvl IIRC.

By the way, what kind of PvM use does Leap have? You guys have any thoughts?
 
Think I got it now, you don't have to talk down to me :rolleyes:

So if it is only the radius of the knock back EFFECT! that increases pr. slvl then why not just use it as level one? I can't see what is so good if the knock back distance doesn't change? Then I could with level one leap make a "shift leap" when the minion stacker gets on top of me, knock him back, tele and ww. The only reason it should be on level 24 would be if I needed to catch someone right? So let's say I have it on level 24 = 2,66 + 23 * 0,66 = 17,84 yards, so in that way if the caster gets close I can just leap = 2x Hit recovery? And then just tele over and WW while the caster is in hit recovery? :) Still I'd say I can't see why it whould be precise level 24? :p

BTW: Is it always 2x Hit recovery animation no matter what the level of leap is?

And yes you suck as a teacher rik... KIDDING :D

Yes it's always 2x hit recovery animation, but having a leap with low kb "range" sucks. If you need a char to be on you to scatter their summons, you're putting yourself at unneccessary risk.
 
ahh okay, but I don't have a whole lot of skill points to spend :( I was thinking like making a mix of BvC and thrower were I'd use throwing versus BvB Barbs... but that's might not a good idea? :p Could look cool firing 7,2 arrows pr. second versus another barb :cool:

throw/ww hybrids never worked in pvp & never will.You wont hit BVBers often enough to be worthwile.Just do as your teachers tell you.:fish:
