    how does whirlwind actually work?

ive heard ateleast a dozen different theories, none of them even vaguely similar. im hoping the local barb experts could shed some light on how whirlwind deals its damage. i plan on using two weapons, for example, will i hit my target two times more than if i whirlwinded with just one weapon? do the weapons that deal the damage switch every whirlwind i do? its sort of confusing, i would like to know because im wondering if 2 handed whirlwind is a good idea, if not i would use a shield in the weapons place. thanks in advance for any answers

ww has nothing to do with itd, they used it just to eliminate AR effects.

in .09 I was under the impression that with 2 weapons you swung 50% more but I cannot verify if this holds true today
