How does the -X% cres on doom apply?

Just wondering how the -cres applied, like the title says.
My sorc has a doom waraxe, but I'm not sure how it works. Does the target have to be within a certain radius of me? Or would it be stacked with the casting of the spell? Or can it be flashed like pally auras used to be able to. General insights be appreciated...

Any attack of that element (Cold, in this case) originating from you will apply the -resist effect. So you have to be wielding it to benefit.

Oh ok. So I couldn't cast Bliz with the -% effect, then switch to a hoto (for the res) and still get the -% effect on the bliz? Or would it be solid from the time of casting?

Hmm... whilst I'm not entirely sure, I think it would be calculated for each hit (just like MF is counted at the moment of death). So every hit would check the amount of -resist gear you posess and apply that...

I don't think anyone's looked into it in any depth really. Or they could have and I just haven't seen it yet :)

I too expect it to be calculated for every hit. Also because Blizzard dmg is variable, otherwise it would be far easier to just calculate dmg per shard beforehand and then applying it per hit.
