How does "Off-Hand" weapon work?

I'm making a Frenzier...
How do you tell which hand is the off-hand?
I never understood how it works.
You should put the faster, weaker weapon in the main hand, and a slower, high damage weapon in the off-hand right?
Any other Frenzy advice?

That's a very good question, and essential to knowing how a frenzy barb works.

The off hand weapon is the one held in the character's left hand on screen (right-side weapon slot as you're looking at the screen). You can make sure you have the correct weapon in the off hand (again, on-screen character's left hand) by pressing "w" or whatever your weapon switch button is in order to switch weapons, and then press it again.

When calculating weapon speed for frenzy, the base speeds of the two weapons are averaged, but only the +IAS of the weapon in the main hand is added. So, the only thing to make sure to do is have the weapon with the most +IAS in your character's main hand.

I referred to these two threads when making my frenzier. Tons of good information in them both:
