How does "Mana stolen per hit" working for a Lightning Sorceress

I have modifiers on weapons, gloves, amulets etc that have the modifiers "Mana stolen per hit".
But my character is a Lightning Sorceress who fries the monsters with chain lightning. Would I still steal the mana for every lightning hit on the monsters ?

Coming after a series of Melee characters, the modifiers for ranged characters seem a bit strange to me, so please forgive me if the question is noobish :)

    NO.

You want to use items with the mod "Mana after each kill"

Or get an Insight merc if you aren't able to afford an Infinity yet.

Stolen per HIT, not cast. Mana per kill is what you are after, and use Lightning more than Chain Lightning if you are able to with your build. Lightning costs about half the mana that CL costs while doing more damage.
