How does absorb work? (Integer and Percent)

I looked on the Arreat summit but I'm still confused. How exactly does absorb work? Is it applied after the resists? So if I have 75% lightning res and then I get 25% lightning absorb, will I take no damage? Or is the absorb factored in AFTER the damage?

What I mean is say I get hit by 1000 lightning damage after pvp penalties. Due to res it'll be 250. Will I then heal 250 or 25% of that? And is integer absorb applied before or after the percentage absorb?

    Damage reduction steps:

    1) XvX penalty
    2) Sorceress Energy Shield
    3) Necromancer Bone Armor and/or Druid Cyclone Armor
    4) Integer DR/MDR
    5) Percentage resists (including DR%)
    6) Percentage absorb
    7) Integer absorb

You will heal 25% of the reduced damage (the total damage you receive is 125). There is a cap on %absorb of 40%, as 50% would basically mean immunity.

Not totally. Since you are HEALED before REDUCED, you still have the possibility that, if you are full health, you are healed first (which basically means 0, since you can't heal above max health), and then damaged with 50% damage reduction, which is still 50%.

Not quite. You heal before taking damage, so in this example, you'd net losing 125 life if you are missing at least 62.5 life from a full bulb. Otherwise, you'll net losing up to 187.5 life.
