How does a Diablo 2 ban actually work?

I'm talking about the perm kind.

You know, if you use a bot, and you get your *** handed to you for it. Is it the account that is banned, the CD-key, or both? And how does it influrance the new Battle.net accounts?

I am not asking cause I have experienced it, I'm just wondering cause people keep talking about their ban and how terrible the world is because of it

Btw, my first post on the forum! I have been lurking around for more then a year tho

IIRC, they first give you a month's ban, not certain of whenever it was tied to your Cd-key or account. The second time offenders will get both account and Cd-key permabanned.

Well since you state in your profile you no longer play, what's the point of asking??? But to humor you.........you're banned!!!
