How do you run 2 copies on 1 computer (is it possible legit?) der=

I was going to post a similar question. I have two computers and two cd keys. The computers are networked together. I tried to play with my neice and couldnt because it said only one cd user can be on battlenet at a time. How do I fix this? Buy a new cd and register it to someone else?

Yep. 2 copies for each you need.

battlenet checks the CD key entered in your registry and it also checks the CD key on the CD itself if I'm not mistaken.

When I was running windows 98 I could play using both. Now that I have this new fangled XP I cant.

I just got off the phone with my son and he said he'll check into kurg's instructions. I have GoBack so I'm not too worried if something gets messed up.

How's the work scene Zappa? We 'bout ready to fire up the UGLY bus again?

All the CD's are identical, there is no key on them. It checks the registry or the MPQ files when you log on.

Make sure you didn't use the same cd-key on both installs.

Since I know of no way to check what key you used to install, there is a 3rd party program to check your own cd-key.

Personnally, I don't see how checking your own cd-key is a "hack" but I don't want to offend the mods, so I am PM-ing the info.

Here is the post on another way to run two copies one machine without user switching.

Hmm, one could conceivably consider d/l-ing a 'modified' dll file as a hack. It may be innocuous, such as the hardcore hack that used to exist (which just toggled a registry setting from a 0 to 1). But its still modifying the game code.

The user switching method requires nothing more than 2 copies (4 cd keys - 2 classic + 2 LOD) and windows XP to work. No modified files, hacks, or other questionable stuff.

On the other hand, I may give the modified dll a try anyway. :D

I am gonna give the multiuser windows xp thing a shot. I have a p4 3.0ghz hyperthreading radeon9600 pro and 1 gig of ddr ram. Hopefully I won't have any problems but I do have to get my friend to give me his cd keys...he never plays anymore ;]

I tried the modified dll thingy and it doesn't seem to work for battlenet - I could never launch two copies using it (I use the -skiptobnet option). It may work for single player (TCP/IP).

Your machine is more than fast enough to run the user switching thing. I have a 2.4 GHz P4 without HT, 512M ram, and a geforce 2. It runs fine for user-switching and running 2 copies of diablo.
