how do you feel about..

those online dating services? i think they're sorta stupid.. but that's probably because i've never tried one, so my opinion is fairly biased

what about you guys? what do you think about them? ever tried one? if so, how did it go?

:bonk:

Haven't tried them, and if I didn't have a girlfriend I probably never would. There's just something about it I don't like.

One of my friends tried one and I think he had good experiences so far.

I've thought about it, and even looked through a few of the personal ads in yahoo singles or something like that, but nothing ever came of it.

1) If I figured that there were hot women looking on the internet, I probably would, but there's the fact that most women have no trouble getting dates elsewhere, unless there is something horridly wrong with them

2) misleading. I'm 18, good shape and an artist : I'm 17, I live at home because I don't have a real job, and my torso does an amazingly good impression of a circle.

Yeah. I dunno how rational it is. My sister is has recently started using some mediary like that...and doesn't like to talk about it. If someone is self-conscious about using one...there's probably a reason for it. It's misleading, as was said before...i think it's a wishing well for those who should probably get up and do the work for themselves...and it breeds a generation of people who sit inside all day, and hate the social scene...kind of like...duh, duh, duh...everyone one-time addiction, diablo. I think they're alike in a lot of ways. It's just dangerous, because those that are weak of will might get stuck in that lifestyle. I'd say that if you're confident that this is just a fad and a curiosity...try it...see if it has any entertainment value...maybe more...who knows...i'm not omnipotent; i just like to think i am.

Are you trying to say there's something wrong with becoming a Hermit?

I don't think it's an entirley bad idea. I've been to the eHarmony website before and the questionaire takes about an hour to complete, it's extremely long, you are even prompted of the option to save it and finish it later. It's very in depth and if the system that matches them up is advanced, it could have potential.

I don't have any problem with meeting people online in any way, I dated a girl that lived almost 2000 miles away that I met on a MUD I was programming on, she lived in New York and I lived in Washington, and I loved her, and I still do.

When meeting people online there are ALOT of advantages to take into consideration. It's alot easier to talk to someone as yourself and not worry about appearance or anything thats carried when meeting someone in real life. You never have to worry about real drama within other people or anything like that, theres no boundarys or other people binding you down, it's very benificial.

I still keep in touch with my internet girlfriend and I still love her with all my heart, and we have plans to meet very soon.

but back to the original topic.. the whole idea complexes me to no end.. although.. i think it would be interesting to sign someone else up.. photoshop a picture.. and get them on a date.. just to see the other person's surprise.. yes.. i'm evil..

For those of you who aren't aware :

Simply lost, on occasion, raids my pants for sphere's of candy. He refers to them as gob stoppers.

So for the time being, there shall be no pants candy.

This is what I ment about internet dating.

I met a great girl about 5 months ago online via match.com, and we met in person about a month and a half ago. It went great. But we're not talking now for some unknown reason, so I may soon hit that site again.

I've tried it and all the ladies I meet on there are stupid, boring, or psycho.

It's as good a method as some others for meeting people. If you aren't into partying, clubbing, or any particularly social type events, it's worth a try from what some people have told me.
Like anything else, you have to be careful and the more professional the service, the better off you are. The more money you probably spend, too.
