How do I stop getting in game and chat adverts?

    Hi,
Ã'm reaaaallly fed up of getting this advert messages during my solo or mP games. Even under password parties they enter to sell.
Fighting a group of MSLE/LI and dying because the screen is overloaded by green/blue/red lines of ....arrrhhhgggghhh.
I'm also not used to chat on bnet because each time you get one line of message and 50 from clvl1 with weird names. So I just can't follow.

Is there a way to prevent this?
I don't know quick keys to make them shut up.
Please help, I just want to play and do my baal runs

The adverts are spammed by bots.

There is really no way to stopt hem completely...other than hnging out in a private channel, and running non public games.

As already said you can't prevent spam from appearing on screen, but there is a solution to the issue. All you need to do is go to keyconfig in the game and put a hotkey on "clear messages" or something (I think default is N but not sure). Then you can easily clear the message spam by just pushing the button once :D.

The spambots can only whisper you if you passed the chat channel or are in an open game? Else, how would they know you're online? I know I get a spammessage everytime I passed the chat screen before entering a game.

Just go directly into a passworded game and you should be fine.

Yeah, its the "n" key. That clears the screen of any messages immediately. I find that by the time I squelch the spambots, theyve already left the game.:bonk:

As said before, if you bypass the chat screen (just dont click on "chat") and only enter passworded game, they can't find you.

I think they actually look for games with certain words in the title too. I see them in Baal runs and trade games all the freakin' time.

You mean they enter a private game?
That has never happened to me and I didn't even know that's possible.
No matter what difficulty or character I've played with, I've never got any ads, only in public games and even then they tend to leave shortly.

Actually, if you go from a chat screen to a game, their spam can follow you there. It's happened to me a few times, but only lasts for one or 2 messages. Kind of unsettling the first time it happened.

I actually see alot that are like lvl 30 and stuff, so that might not work. The best thing is to just squelch them when they come.

Thanks for the tip on "N".
Some wrote to avoid going from chat room to a game.
But I use that often when muling in solo: going to chat room before exchanging char, it resets the clock (I saw that in a guide, maybe JRichard's) and decreases the risk of deconnexion. LOL!, It happenned I was thrown out and lost some uniques and runes even with this method, but much less than before.

By the way, when I get disconnected, the game is always "not existing" anymore. I thought it could last for 5 minutes more...any idea ?

That wouldn't make a difference? They can't enter the game sure, but they don't enter the game at all anyway (except for the bonedrummers and goodnews bots), they just harras you with whispers once you passed the chat room.

There is a way to permanently stop all whispers but your friends': /o igw
It even remembers the setting for different Diablo sessions. Just remember to write /o unigw if you plan on trading. I can't even remember how many times I've forgotten that on and wondered why nobody wants to trade with me.

Thanks for this one. Anyway, I 'm bad in trading because not use to it and I dont want to spend time on trade channels to know the value of items.

    - You don't neccecairly have to pass the channel, I sometimes get wispers of them while im doing private mfruns.

    - I'm not sure if lvl restrictions will work, because the bots aren't recognised by battle.net, as you can see if you squelch them in a game, you'll get a msg from bnet saying the character isnt logged onto battle.net.

    - I heard there's a mh version who squelches all bots but I'll just stay with "n" and "squelch" :)
