How do I get awesome armor?

I played a D2 a bit when it first came out, but havent played it in years. I just got back into it cause of some friends.

So I play an open Battle.net game and this guy lets me borrow his armor. UNGODLY powerful stuff

+7 to all skills for all classes
Huge pluses to:
resists
defense
mana
life
attack
a few seperate skills
4 socket perfect skulls also

Sad thing is he was carrying another suit that had higher diff in strength so my sorceress could not wear it, but neither could he. I asked him how he got it and he said some guiy gave it to him. Im just starting HELL level at lvl 45ish and am getting my butt handed to me.

His armor made me invincible, nice for the 15 minutes that I played with it, but not much fun to just walk thru and stuff just dies from getting close to me. So is this stuff legit? If so how does one get it? How come I cant find any socketed armor since they apparently added it?

While there are (maybe?) people that play legit on open Bnet, some people run modified copies of the games where all the monsters drop items like this. It is also very possible to create an item like this outside of the game and import it onto your character. It's safe to assume that anything like this which is obviously overpowered is not normally available in the game.

That's an obvious hack. And, level 45 is far to early to be entering Hell with any expectation of hitting, let alone hurting, any monsters. Try levelling up to 75 - 80, and then go back.

that armor is clearly hacked/modified. no item will give u plus 7 to skills. the most for a legit item will be +3 to a specific skill tree (on amulets). there are editors out there that will enable you to modify single player items and chars bu they are considered cheats. that's why open bnet is 99% filled with hacked characters

that armor, my friend, is hacked. I started playing on open b.net also..for about a week; then all the hacked charms and stuff got old so I went to closed and havnt looked back!(until now i guess) but get you and your friend to come to closed b.net it is wayy more rewarding than open bnet trust me. If you wana stay open though thats cool but in those "legit duels" games they are normaly not legit and there are alot of hackers out there.

i don't know why open net is so fun... its like everyone around you are hackers or potential hackers. Wheres the fun?

i've played open before in my early d2 days.. the ppl dont care a lot about ur items or anything about runes b/c there are soooo many hacked stuff going around that its impossible to keep track of. i've seen 2 pallys zealing away at each other for 10 min straight and no one had died yet. thats how messed up open is.
