How come cubing eth weapon isn't glitched?

    How come cubing eth weapon isn't glitched?

    because the "glitch" came about when the freaking smart blizzard coders fixed an old problem with upping unique eth armors. upping unique eth armors (say shaftstop) used to result in the ethereal quality being lost and that eth shaftstop would be exactly like a non eth one (after it was upped).

    since they fixed that glitch we got this new one. there wasnt a problem with upping weapons before so no glitch now.

    That is only part of the explanation ... the defense of armors is stored in the item data which means that when you upgrade, the modified (i.e glitched) value is now stored with the item and is thus persistent. For weapons, the damage is read from the MPQ files (specifically weapons.txt) and not stored with the items. What this means is that the calculation for the final damage after the ethereal bonus is not affected by the glitch since it is always using the "correct" base value.
