How big do you want -your- inventory?

Re: How big do you want -your- inventory?

a checklist of every unique and set item in the game would have made me enjoy d2 alot more. i am a collector so i want to collect every single unique i can every set i can. i do not care much for rare collecting but the items like uniques i want them and i want to save them forever.

i dont see why a huge shared stash is such a bad idea, smaller inventory hugh stash that is account wide
Pretty much this - I want a hole in the ground that I can dump every unique I in the game I ever find - preferably a hole in the ground with a sort function.

Grailing is the reason why I play D2 / TQ / every other pointless hack and slash with a well-designed item system.

smaller inventory
I've seen this comment a couple times in the thread now. I don't understand why anyone would want a smaller inventory. True in D2 inventory space was mostly taken by charms, but I say the bigger the inventory the better!

Remember that in D3 you won't be able to just tp back to town at will and sell all your crap items and drop good items off in the stash. Like I've previously posted.. the most annoying part of D2 for me was item management. Both with inventory and muling.

They can mess with the size of the stash all they want, but they can't touch the character inventory size in D2 without having to re-balance the entire game because of the charms system.

As above, if they were to put in systems to make item transfer and sale easier(mailbox, auction house, etc...), then they really wouldn't even need to change the stash size.

i didnt state that properly, i do not mean smaller vs d2, just smaller vs the stash and what not.

Ultimately, they need to make the inventory bigger or expandable. Especially if they intend to make good on the "we don't want to take you out of the action" thing they're so very fond of. Nothing takes me out of the action quite like going a quarter of the way through a dungeon only to hear "I CAN'T CARRY ANY MORE!" "I CAN'T CARRY THAT!"

Portaling back to town 5 times in one dungeon run is a crime against humanity.

I really don't get the point of wanting a small inventory.

It doesn't make a difference, really. If we have a smaller inventory, we're still going to mule. Mules = free and easy to make. The only thing that's gonna happen with a small inventory is that we're going to mule more. And then you get all these temp bans and crap like that, and people clogging up the servers. Really, nobody wins.

It's not so much a big one I want, I want a shared one (and obviously a seperate personal one). Muling is annoying, and keeping all the items you find on one character to that character is just plain pointless when you can easily trade.

And for the reality part, screw it. I mean seriously, has anyone ever seen a woman casting fireballs and lightning streaks and ice shards from their hands? Or somebody shooting 25 arrows at once? Or raising skeletons that fire colorful blobs at people? Not to mention the fact that the characters don't have a backpack or purse of any kind, so really, if you're so worried about reality, you might as well just not use your inventory.

I like how Guild Wars handles storage space.

You start with a fairly small inventory (20 spaces) and as the game progresses, you can buy bags and upgrade them. If you collect them all and max them out, you'll net another 40 spaces, for a total of 60 spaces per character!

Then you can unlock an account wide storage, which acts as a drop off location for muling and has a wopping 100 spaces of free storage (with 80 more purchasable at rip off real life prices).

Finally, another tab in the account chest is strictly for storing material that stacks (up to 255 of an item), so you don't have to waste good inventory space on stuff like chipped gems. :smug:

250*
And you can buy new character slots which all have an inventory (just as expensive as Storage slots, but more inventory slots. Whee). I think they capped the # of characters at 30 or so.

Seconded.

I don't necessarry like the bag system, but some storage which can be reached by all characters on your account (or something like the mail system in WoW) would make my gaming experience su much better. I can deal with small inventory, not so big stash, but it really pisses me off when my Paladin has his inventory filled with stuff for my Amazon or Druid (+his own gems, runes and others) which happened to drop in his games and I have to bother friends or risk losing items to transfer them.

No little bird told me 1.13 would introduce stacked gems and runes. But I dreamt of it.
Stay tuned.

I want a HUGE stash. Bigger is better. Can't be too big.

Re: How big do you want -your- inventory?

I think one satchel of loot is plenty. Currently, my satchel for school consists of no more than 2-3 books, a pen, pencils, eraser, calculator, my lunch and spare change. Therefore a satchel, lunchbox, and 2 pocketfulls of loot are plenty (in addition to the cloth and armor one wears in game) The whole concept of an endless pit of loot.. I don't like the idea.. afterall the Diablo characters are like nomads.. wandering thru forests, over mountains, across oceans and through Diablo's lair.. You should carry only what can be carried and nothing more. If you have more than two weapons, you ought to be forced to sell the excess garbage for smaller and more valuable gems/rings/jewels or magical items that will hold their value while staying compact..

Actually, come to think of it, you'd probably be traveling by horse cross country.. so I guess mules (as in donkeys) arent that bad of an idea. We should get maximum up to two donkeys as a personal traveling caravan/stash. It's only upon entering a dungeon, that you're only able to carry your satchel's contents... Wouldn't that be something, if these in-game donkey's are linked as one shared stash for each of your characters?
