    Hot wings

    How do you make them?

I was told that I should not bread them. I always have to get a crispy outside. If I just plop the wings in the deep fryer without the breading, will they still be crispy?

What sauce do you use? I use Quaker Steak and Lube Arizona Ranch. Part of me wants to try the atomic wing sauce, but that may be a waste of money, it may be too hot for even me.

you can bread them if you want.
i'm sure you can buy some sort of chicken wing from the grocery store, and then fry/sauce them yourself.

Who breads hot wings? You coat them in sauce, fry them, then coat in more sauce.

Well, yeah..thats what I was talking about. I buy a bag of frozen wings and cook them. The Quaker Steak and Lube sauce is rather expensive and I would like to find one that is cheaper yet tasty.

I was thinking the same. Wouldn't the sauce get burned?

You don't put a lot on, just lightly coat them, if you put too much on it falls off and burns, it never burns to the wing though.

I don't know exactly what it does, but it does change the way the wings turn out. The first few times I made wings I didn't know about it and they didn't turn out nearly as nice. My sister had to enlighten me.

I usually coat them very lightly in flour seasoned with salt, pepper, and whatever spices you like. Then toss in your sauce of choice after frying.

You never heard of Quaker Steak and Lube?? Wow, I thought they were all over the place.

We always ate there on our way to Toronto. They have one in Erie right off 90. They also just opened one near my school..oohh, a little piece of heaven.

It does not appear that the chain reaches further than a small section around Ohio.

Superdave, at least you guys have a Dave and Busters. Awsome place to go. I can spend hours in there. I am the supreme Galaxian player. I played for almost an hour on one token.

Ski makes hot wings once every few months. He usually does not bread them or coat them in anything before frying them. You could marinate them prior to frying if you wanted an infusion of flavor, but to me wings have always been more about the sauce than the wing itself. I like them tossed in a little Sweet Baby Ray's, kicked up a little with some basic tabasco. For himself, and anyone brave/stupid enough to try it, Ski makes his own personal hot sauce. This usually involves more than a few Habenero's and the occasional other type of hot pepper. It has an odd color, burns your eyes, and you do not want to get it under your nails for anything!!!!
While on our way to Philly, I saw a few of those Quaker Steak places. I don't think we have any in Michigan.

It's a Midwest thing, and Quaker Steak and Lube makes the best wings in town. All you can eat wing night has always been one of my favorites.

AJ..do you have Giant Eagle grocers down there? We have an upscale one that sells the sauce. I look at the other sauces and just can't seem to buy them. Quaker Steak FTW.

Yep, we've had Giant Eagle ever since they bought out Big Bear. I love the Arizona Ranch sauce, Louisiana Lickers are really good too.
