Re: HopeinChange - Obama's 2009 Budget Proposal
Not to distract you from your duel, but do you see a large rich/poor divide as inherently negative?
Well, Garby seems to have stopped being any fun so I guess I can answer seriously.
I don't think that necessarily that is so, I mean what I'd consider "positive" about a country in terms of wealth is how poor the bottom of the heap is (that is, I don't like stepping over the dead bodies of a bunch of gross povs on my way to work every day, yay for enlightened self interest). If everybody's pretty well off and there are a few Bill Gateses then that's not a problem (well, bad example).
Still in practice it does seem like there's some correlation between countries with a large divide like that and a lot of homeless people rotting on the streets. I've never been to America so I can't comment on that, although I have heard a lot of friends and relatives saying something to that effect about their trips to the US.
I also think that any topic with multiple posts by Jmerv and Dondrei render the discussion useless because of their need to get the last post at the expense of rational thought.
When are these threads ever otherwise?
Haha! Last post!
