I hired a ActII merc, and it wass Blessed aim, so i tried again, and again, and again... How do u get a holy freeze merc? im noob, i know

it has too be in nightmare difficulty and i think its the defensive one.

Yeah, it's a Defensive Merc in Nightmare difficulty you have to hire. Right now you've been hiring Normal Offensive ones.

i screwed up too........
i hired a nm offensive one and he had some other aura on i had no clue what it was, (maybe holy fire?)
he died a lot due to me not having any gear for him

No worries. Go back to NM Act II and hire the defensive one. You can resurrect or rehire mercs an unlimited number of times so long as you have the gold. The only penalty for hiring a new one is that you might have to level him up to catch up to you. There is no penalty for resurrecting him.

lol yup, well its not a problem due to me just starting nm act 2 with a lvl 40 javazon and i dont usually use mercs, just thought it would be interesting so i tried one yesterday and it died many times cuz no gear and my money basically ran out so time to join some more cow games and hoepfully i can get some more gold
btw what is the best way to lvl up a merc as when u hire him at the start of act 2 nm?

If you could aford it, you could get any act 3 merc and equip it with Doom. You'll need a 5 socket polearm, Hel, Ohm, Um, Lo and cham rune tho.

Act 3 merc cannot equip a polearm, or any other Doom weapons(axe and hammers) for that matter. If you want to use Doom, use it on a act 2 nm offensive merc(might aura).

My Mistake, sorry i meant act 2. Yes you have to get the Defence merc.

why not use it on Holy freeze merc?

I for one are using a holy freeze merc equipped with eth doom rw, with my concentration he does well over 10k damage.

because instead of using doom you could use something like obediance or botd for much more damage. Or using a different aura on the merc.

I dont think the holy freeze aura from the doom will do anything at all, either that or only one of the auras will be active swapping every few seconds.

Having Doom on a HF merc is a complete waste in my opinion.

Doom is an exceptional weapon if you can afford it.

I believe it is much more 'useful' on something like a Might merc. And the HF isn't there really for the damage, it's there for the Slow.

Fanatical Zealot + Exile (Defiance) + Might Merc + Doom (Holy Freeze).

You're using Concentration, so one would assume you're using a Hammerdin. You're probably better with a Might merc using the Doom. However, each to their own.

Well a defiance merc would probably be the most useful since theres only one place where you need the merc to kill for you. Anything would beat useing holy freeze + doom though.

Agreed.

Hammerdins don't need any assistance with killing anything but the Wailing Beasts in Act 3. I don't even think a merc is necessary even with these, simply have a point in Zeal, or a Passion Phase Blade; more than enough to finish them off.
