Ok, as I said before, I like transmuting charms I find in hell cows, which is an level 81 area. But using Baal charms lets you get the highest possible mods.

Now, what if I get my level 98 friend, sell my lvl 81 charm to a hell vendor, and have Mr. Level 98 buy that charm back from the vendor? Is that charm now lvl 98 (or whatever the net effect of him buy that charm is)?

    Very curious... ;)

    Why's that?
    In this thread...
    http://www.rpgforums.net/showthread.php?t=130790

...both shadow and thrugg mentioned that iLvl of NPC sold item = cLvl +5.

So if I sell an item to a vendor, and someone else then BUYS it from that vendor, I could see where that item becomes iLvl = cLvl +5. For that matter, I could see it's iLvl changing if I bought it myself.

Then again, I could see the game having some provision for preventing that...which is why I'm asking the question.

If I sell an item to a vendor, and either I or someone else buys it from that vendor, does that item then follow the iLvl of NPC sold item = cLvl +5 formula?

No, because it has not been generated by the NPC.

Generally, the only time an item's level will change is when it is rerolled in some way - such as by cubing, crafting, or imbuing. Even then, you can get new mods without necessarily changing the item level (3 pgem recipe, or repeated use of other 3 gem recipes). There is no way to change just the item level.

Yes, you can get high lvl mods even with a lvl 1 cuber. For example, I cubed a lvl 69 requirement grand charm with my lvl 1 gem mule (grand charm was from pindle). It's all about the permanent item lvl as Thrugg said.

More precisely it is items that are randomly generated for the vendor to sell are ilvl=clvl+5. Not just because they have it in their inventory. Items that are sold to them are in essence transfered to their inventory for an amount of gold transferred to your inventory (just moving where the item is located, not any of its stats, hidden or revealed).
