Hit-and-away type of build, any suggestion?

Hello, I recently come back to D2 after D3 announcement. I've been playing D2 since release, and I repeat the cycle of playing for 6 months or so, being gone for some months, then comeing back.

I usually play Lightning trapsin, talon assassin, Javazon, and play sorcs purely for hell mephi 1st kill glitch. I didn't like sorcs because of its fragility and too many immunes. But recently I made a meteorb with 20 telepo for hell mephi as a 1st character in this ladder season, and I like it very much. I mean, "20 telepo" part.

Of course these skill points into teleport ruins her fire power, but fast-cast, low-mana blind teleporting is simply great. So I decided to make a new sorc as the main character on this ladder. I remember 1.08 days, Nova sorc was my favorite at that time. Teleport in, cast nova fast, teleport out. That was my kind of style.

What build do you think best suit for my taste? I want quick blind teleport (without dedicating points into teleport, that means I'd better pick lit tree to boost up tele skill with +lightning skills I guess.). I usually like blizzard, but not for this case as it doesn't seem to be a quick, hit and away build. (You cast bliz between enemy and yourself while walking, don't you?) What is your suggestion of "hit-and-teleaway" style build?

I have some gear (like occy, magi etc) and middle runes (ist, gul etc), but cannot afford high end items like griffons or infinity.

My primary aim is Hell baal run in up to 2 players game. I also want to walk hell, rush my hubby's toons. I don't play PvP at all.

Any advice and suggestion will be appreciated.

No standard build comes to mind, but I'm thinking the following:
- You want 10 hard pts in teleport; that's enough for blind teleport
- You want to use Frozen Orb because you only need 40 pts to make it work (20 FO and 20 Cold Mastery - ignore the synergy because it doesn't give you much more dmg)
- You want to have another attack, either fire or lightning, preferably one that works well without too many points. Obvious choices are Nova and Fire Wall. Some time ago I made a similar build using FO and Thunderstorm, which is fun but not the most effective.

Overall I think the Frozen Orb / Fire Wall direction is best.

I made this to do 2-players dia/baal in hell. And to do full game pits.
Those she can do, much better than I expected. Not owerpowered, but not slow either, and perfectly safe.

Building now Charged-Bolt Enchant sorc and she does those jobs you mentioned well. Don't have great items yet, but still she can do 2-player dia/baal 20 times a row without loosing even merc. In full games, she is weak, but still can do something, at least full game Pits, AT are possible. Easy to lvl in hell Arcane, as no immunes there.

Free tele as warmth keeps mana bulb up. Easy to rush people as she can do all Q in 2-player game. And can enchant (about 1000 fire now) low chars so they can do something at their own.

+ free tele (or almost with decent items, with good items you get mana back while tele)
+ no immune problem
+ iron maiden/souls don't slow down much
+ Fun
+ Enchanted merc kills all L-immunes fast enough, just need to tele around, so
it keeps both char/merc safe around souls/archers etc...
+ Can rush hell ancients easily
- full games are hard, no skillers, anni, torch yet, after those should be ok.
- Baal takes some time, as Rogue merc don't help there much
- Double (Lightning+Fire) immunes are hard, at least Lister, but its doable if you go in and melee those.

+/- Its not overpowered build, can do all, but some hard monsters still takes time. And you need to know how to keep merc alive as build she is your main weapon agaist immunes.

At around lvl70 she can start doing solo hell baals. But each lvl after that helps a lot, as double tree builds needs high lvl to do runs fast.

Robust and easy to survive
Now she is lvl87. Started doing hell-baal runs at lvl70 and since then died about 2-3 times and merc died about 10 times. So its easy to keep both merc/char safe, still need lots of teleing to keep both safe, not tank build.

Easy to lvl
charged bolt is one of the best low lvl skills. So both norm and nmare goes very fast.

Lightning/Orb is fun. Much more fast-paced than say, meteorb.

Max lightning
max chain lightning
max lightning mastery
max frozen orb
enough points in cold master to get -100% resists with +skills (couple extra is fine)
standard sorc skills

And for teleporting, my experience is that if you simply get fully geared you really don't need to worry about dropping points into teleport. Running full tals, frosties, spirit monarch, and 2 sojs, I've never had to worry about mana while teleporting, especially if I have insight along.

Thank you for your advice.

Reading the responses, I come to think FO + CL or Charged bolt would suit me, without pouring any extra hard points into teleport. That way I can enjoy fast cast lightning spell + FO to deal with immunes.

In additin, I searched this forum and Amazon Basin and found "Nova + Frost Nova" build, and am very interested. Have anyone here tried Nova, Frost Nova build?

Both are very mana hungry builds. And both needs lots of +skills (+15... to work well in hell). With very good items, both are very effective and fast builds. BUT very annoying to play if not good mana bool.

Both are very fast area runners, but kind of weak against bosses. You play both aggressively and tele middle of group and kill all fast or die if items weren't good enough. But both are fun chars to play.

I don't seem to be rich enough for this build atm, but I will give it a try when I become rich:)
