Well, thanks for the advice to keep up LK running spirit. I'll try some podcasts.
I just got my hammerdin to lvl 91, so now its time to check out some guides for LK gear setup and get this show on the road!

Hmmm, a Paladin, huh? If you really want to run LK then I'd really consider using the Sorceress. Take this from somebody who did 5k with an Assassin and looking back regrets it. And that's with a class that doesn't need keys and can use Mind Blast to preoccupy mobs rather easily.

Unless you have an Enigma. Then by all means.

Even if you have an Enigma I'd still use a sorceress for Lower Kurast runs; telekinesis is a major asset. I have done ~8,000 runs now and I can't imagine having to walk up to/teleport on top of each chest. As you play your map over and over, you basically memorize exactly where the chests are within in the huts, and you can hit them with telekinesis with surprising accuracy. It saves a ton of time.

As an added bonus you can hit some of the randomly generated chests, skeletons, logs, etc. much easier and with minimal effect on your run times.

Paladins teleport like 50% slower than sorcs, so I could never do LK runs with a paladin. Hammerdins are better off runehunting while leveling; they level soooo fast in CS and can run at p7 without any trouble (being a little careful around Lord De Seis and watching out for conviction if fire res isn't stacked). The only reason I'd ever run LK with a hammerdin would be fear of death (HC).

Audio books are great for repeated and relatively boring runs. Went through "A Song of Ice and Fire" (starting from where the TV series left off) when I went for 99 on my hammer.

Caused a bit of confusion I see. I got the "show on the road" by gearing my AT blizz runner for high fcr/dmg/resis etc, not my hammerdin... :-S. It is for him (and my fishymancer) why I am doing this.

After only 50 or so runs I can understand why people run LK. Many jewels/gems/runes (ko being highest untill now) and charms. I reackon my average run time is 35-40 seconds. The amount of drops (i play p8) from one chest is high though, sometimes i need to clear gold/potions to see all drops. I even sometimes cant recognize the sound of drops.

The first camp being about 5 teleports away from WP and the second camp from the first about 8 teleports.
Is this a good roll?

My strategy:
1) A4 pand fortress, drop loot on ground (from previous run)
2) Take WP LK
3) teleport first and second camp (avoid battles, although my merc and blizzard can take on mobs fairly easily)
4) create TP and let cain ID drops (i pick up a lot)
5) take WP to A4 again and Save& Exit

Is this strategy any good?

@ Helvete: 1) a song of fire and ice sounds good, I read the books, iirc 2 years ago and loved them.
2) I just realize I am afraid to die as a matter of fact with my sorc (SC though), she is half way exp from lvl 93 to 94, hate to see that vaperize.

Gripphon gave this great response when I asked about quickly sorting through the chest drops on p8.

As to the map, it sounds pretty decent. Better can be found, but it's a question of how much time you want to spend searching for it. For example, I've got a map on my blizzsorc where there is a camp just left of the way point, and just down from the way point. This allows me to do a bit of a wonky circle of teleports and finish up back at the WP. (I've seen a few others like this on videos, wherein I got the idea to look for one) Cutting out zoning to the docks could be a big difference for you depending on your computer, or it could be fairly small like a second of extra time.

I'm not sure how big of an impact saving on carrying tomes of teleports really is in the long run, but I have a feeling the biggest difference would be if you've ever found yourself going to the vendor 'just' for teleport scrolls. However, if you're consistently filling your inventory in those 20 runs (+any TP's you pick up along the way) then I don't think that has much of an effect on your run speed overall any more than any other vendoring you do to clear space. That said, cutting down on time spend vendoring and how often you need to vendor makes a pretty big difference I found.

So, that aside, the big thing is simply minimizing the distance you have to travel. That means as much FCR as possible while still being safe. Getting used to the camp's layout so you can go through it quickly without spending much time on travelling (and/or be travelling while scanning the item drops). And lastly the positioning, where it's really up to you if you want to try for better. How easy/hard that might be I can't really speak to as I kinda stumbled into an LK map I'm very happy with and didn't have to do a bunch of rerolling. So I don't know how truly rare those uber maps really are. I've sort of assumed that the best of the best ones are rare enough that I've settled for two camps within spitting distance of the WP as the main priority.

However, if you are keeping your map, you could consider using the inventory/character screen teleport trick to cut down on your time spent teleporting, particularly for the larger distance between camps, which should make a pretty big difference, and honestly take your current travel times from "good" to "*whistle*". Offhand, gripphon's map is the best I can think of, where he's got 2 tele to the first chest and 4 to the second camp, then 1 back to the waypoint.

Thanks, I'll have a look at the vid, the description of scaning makes sense anyway.

Almost had my first good drop from LK as well, my heart skipped a beat when I ID'd a GC with combat skill+34 life... Barbarian combat skills. However, not complaining ofc
