I also think that immunity vs only challenger is good idea. That makes this even more active :)

Also, I vote yes, eventhough I don't play elemental char. Cause it will be no fun if all chars are hammerdins/necs etc..

although it might be handy to know how high the cap is :) 80/85/90?

About immunities -> you make the rules, i'll play them :grin: (don't have that problem atm any way ^^)

assuming 10K traps (or better said, 10K light damage)

200dmg for 80lres + 20% wisp abs
--- 66 dmg for 80 lres and 2* +20% wisp abs ----
126dmg for 90lres + tgods

not that big difference anyway

numbers might be wrong, counted in hurry

half damage if counting average trap dmg

So still there is dilemma. What to do with auradins. They by default have 90/90 fire/light resist?

Also I want to bring up suggestion that 2 ravens are overkill vs blizzard sorc. Assuming that we duel in Nightmare and stack have no limits anyone can easy achieve immunity vs them. :/

I think 1 raven is ok.

I am not in this, but agreed pretty much same thing as above by WhiteAlien.

My auradin has no hopes in joining this. :S
Also given + 70 res you get for being in NM rather than hell, raven + 1 is better.
I am not sure if there are builds that require 2 x raven to be effective tho.

So its sorta balances itself out? Because even if there were no real cap to control this, many chars will need to stack 70 res for full hell res, plus extra they need.

It would be decent game in nm with auradoin vs blizz but not auradin vs FB/lightning even in hell if auradin knows how to stack res, as they really don't sacrifice much dmg at all.

...or certain class can have item restrictions..(no CTA comes to mind. No Bo at least)

My bearsorc uses Guardian angel for max block, i can't duel if the cap is 85.
Can't you just count >85 res as 1 absorb item?

My vote is yes, put a cap on it. Not sure how high it should be, and which exceptions should be made to further balance it, but being able to get 95 res just doesn't give casters a chance.

well, above 85% resist you dont need anymore to absorb. Try to kill someone with 95% resist. If at that lvl you put on just 1 absorb you already will start to heal, which will turn duel into player slaughter.

In my opinion - any item that adds +max resist should be counted as 1 piece of absorb and should be allowed only one type of item like this. Otherwise Guardian + Tgods or hotspurs grants 95% resist, which is 100x worth than 85% resist and 1 wisp.

Also I would like suggest to move duels in Hell difficulty rather than Nightmare. Read why.

Dueling in Nightmare advantages/disadvantages:
1. Blizzard/orb sorc - me :smiley: - becomes weak puppets
2. Light sorc and java zones losses advantage of griffon -%res and facets (while others can keep same gear without loosing dmg)
3. V/T palies - their foh attack becomes useless so they become like a weak smiter
4. Auradins and Daydreamers - losses half of their power
5. Windies - Oak gets physical immunity (nice)
6. Any melee can drop off their resist gear to put on dmg gear (gogo casters)

I'm about balance in the game and more different classes/builds in ladder tourney!

i agree 100% with whitealien, im going to enter with a mellee char soon, but i'd rather have a balance in this competition between casters and mellee chars to keep it interesting. hell duels should be a necessity.
so should an 85% resist cap with the 1 piece f absorb allowed. tgods counts as bringing up light res and the piece of absorb.
