Hi guys, looking for some help.

Hello, it's been a while but I decided to check out loot 2.0 as well as the other changes in the patch. It looks like new set items won't provide set bonuses with my pre-patch set items. Magic find applies 100% to blue items but only 10% toward legendaries as a sort of diminishing returns for MF the rarer you go. This seems to make my MF gear I had saved less desirable. GF gear seems like it could still be useful though.

Well, my problem is I'm unsure on what to get rid of and what to save. My stashes are filled with legendaries, sets, MF gear, GF gear and crafting items. I've been a self-found player without trading so it took quite a time investment to obtain what I have and I'm apprehensive about getting rid of things.

I guess my MF gear could be salvaged. All my characters are level 60 so I think all my legendaries lower than level 60 can be salvaged unless there are plans to add something where you could craft them to a higher level. I'm a little out of the loop and still catching up and the changes in the patch and what's planned for the Reaper of Souls expansion.

Are there any legacy items? Were any legendaries revamped? I remember before that I found a 300th Spear with MF on it and there was a patch where that item changed but I was still able to keep the one with MF even though the new ones were dropping without it.

I'll keep the wall of text to a minimum and say thank you in advance to anyone who can offer some help. Good luck in-game. :)

On a side note - I found it very ironic that my first legendary to drop post patch was a Leoric's Signet. Damn I spent sooo much time farming the two I had. :)

Generally speaking, in Loot 2.0 legendaries and sets are the best items, so any legendary or set has a good chance of being an upgrade. In addition, stat rolls are both higher and more consistent, so most legendaries will roll with 300-329 of a stat at least, making upgrading stats much easier. The Shoulder and Bracer slots are basically obsoleted by new items, so if you have the 'Pauldrons/Razorspikes of Stat' item plans, you can craft yourself upgrades to those slots very quickly.

Other slots are a little harder. Crit chance and crit damage both show up fairly often, but rarely in very high amounts, and even rarer together. If you have old Trifecta (AS, CC & CD) gear, then they will probably be too good to upgrade, though a very high mainstat roll with CC or CD might still be a small upgrade. Overall, Toughness (the new name for total EHP) is extremely easy to upgrade: just by upgrading normal gear, you will probably get close to double your old Toughness: in three upgrades, my friend's Monk doubled his life.

Finally, weapons in general are much stronger now: any weapon with a socket is nearly guaranteed to be better than a legacy weapon, unless you had a really, really good one. Most legendary weapons drop with at least 1,100 DPS, and many drop with DPS between 12-1300. If your new legendary is socketed, it will probably be better than a legacy weapon. If not, then it's harder to decide, but it still might be better. However, since many legendaries have special affixes and procs on them, the special stats/procs may be worth losing some damage anyway.

In terms of what to keep and what to get rid of in terms of old items, you can basically scrap all of your MF gear. MF is nearly worthless now: someone tested farming with about 150% MF, and he said that after about 5 hours of runs he didn't really see any difference between 150% MF and 0%. Many legacy armor pieces can also be scrapped, as you can often find upgrades to old armor simply due to the fact that stat rolls are usually much higher in Loot 2.0. Weapons are a difficult story, so refer to the paragraph above. Lower than lvl 60 legendaries are less necessary, primarily because the legendary drop rate has been buffed again, and for characters under lvl 60 all act bosses and King Leoric are guaranteed to drop a legendary item, so your lower level characters should be encountering more legendaries on their way to 60.

Finally, keep in mind that most good items now will be obsoleted when Reaper of Souls comes out. RoS raises the level cap to 70, so lvl 70 gear will become the best gear. Most lvl 70 legendary weapons have between 1800-2300 DPS, which is better by default than anything you can possibly get at lvl 60, and most legendary armors provide between 400-700 mainstat/vit, so they will usually be better than what you have at lvl 60. The two things I would most suggest keeping from lvl 60 gear are Rings/Amulets and Trifecta gear. Trifecta gear is very powerful, as since items are now locked into a maximum of 4 Primary stats and 2 Secondary stats, it is very hard indeed to get Trifecta rolls, and if you do you cannot get Trifecta, Vit and Mainstat, since all 5 stats are Primary stats. Second, Rings and Amulets tend to have a lower chance of rolling Trifecta stats now, much for the same reason as stated above. If you have very good rings from now, it might be difficult to upgrade them in RoS, though the massive boost to mainstat/vit may yet be stronger than a weak Trifecta ring. Other than that, most other stuff can go.

However, I would caution you not to destroy or sell anything until you are out of room and need space. While much of it may not be useful, you never know what might be good to keep around. Furthermore, you might want to keep some of the lower level items in case of running up new characters, especially since it takes much less time now. One way or another, though, you can almost certainly get rid of old MF gear, unless that gear had other good stat rolls on them, or the MF rolls were on strong items in general. MF is mostly useless in RoS and Loot 2.0, so unless your MF gear is really good you can probably clear those out.

Thanks for the advice. Since I have everyone at the current max level (softcore) and three at max in hardcore, I'll be sure to get rid of any legendary lower than level 60. I'm a hoarder at heart but they need to go since I have no more room. I'll keep my offensive trifectas since it'll be near impossible to find them again. I read the developer post (Travis i think?) where he discussed trying balance a game around 0 MF vs high MF and it's impossible so they want to move away from having MF in the game. I've always liked choices but seeing as this is their philosophy going forward I'll get rid of the MF stuff too. I'll still keep my 40/40 Xephirian Amulet since the GF should still be useful. There was mention of "unique equipped" items and I noticed that, however, I'm still not really sure what this is. Some of my items have it and some don't. Please be patient with me because I want to know what this is but I still don't fully understand. Are the items with this description the ones you can equip multiples of or the other way around?

The front page post had some interesting points as well http://diablo.incgamers.com/blog/comments/5-ways-prepare-for-reaper-of-souls#more-375610
I'll keep that in mind too.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time with D3 but ultimately have decided that the expansion isn't a first day purchase considering how D3 was released. I'll probably be picking it up at some point but I'll reserve acting on that until more "player tested" info is released. So, for now, I'm just focusing around D3 2.0 and what it has to offer.

Thanks again for the posts guys.
