Hi everybody

I'm new here, so I thought that it would be nice to simply say 'hello' :thumbup:

I stopped playing diablo years ago but came back to the game few months ago.
And i enjoy it more than ever ! Have just received the 'guardian' title for my main character and thought about getting more involved into multiplayer-gaming.

And before i forget - thanks for all those of you who spent time creating all the lovely guides and advices that you can find on this website. They really helped me a LOT.

FEW THOUGHTS:

- Hell difficulty was easier than i thought. Diablo died really fast, ancients werent so scary and the hardest part was simply adjusting at the beginning.

- I play hardcore, dont move items between cahracters, dont use any kind of scripts and most of all dont mule. You should really try it out. Having limited inventory space makes you think twice at what to keep. :whistling:

- Few items seem to be overrated (shako for instance). I've got really good drops from hell-mephisto (getting the shako and andariels face in a row) but will probably throw them away as they dont fit to my assassin build. I would love to get that crushing-blow helm (set item), but cant find it :/ Any suggestions who has the highest chance of dropping it ?

- Rune hunting. I did like 150 countess runs and the funny thing is that i got three good runes (Mal, Ist, Pul) from some creatures in the tower but nothing good from the countess

- Blizzard should make more places where you can hunt for good runes (imho). Such a nightmare to find them... Its good to have a challange but if you need to spend several months to get few high-level runes then its more annoying than fun.

Hi.

It's not clear whether you're playing single player or multiplayer. In either case, your best chance at Guillaume's helm from a drop is NM Diablo, Baal and Mephisto. Otherwise, trading for it on Battle.net or even the Single Player forums is probably not hard.

The best place to find high runes is clearing the Chaos Sanctuary. The best place to find mid-level runes is the Countess. You can also hunt Chests for charms and runes. Lower Kurast is extremely reliable in single player where when can save your map, but it's also doable in multi-player. You can also pop the chests in the Kurast Bazaar and Upper Kurast if you know where to look for them. The chests in Arcane Sanctuary are also doable but I think they cap at Vex or something (I'd have to double-check).

Edit: In single player, the superchests in River of Flame are also doable.

@ Sun Fired Blank - I was playing single mode as for now. Besides - why chaos sanctuary for runes ? Because of all those 'ghost type' creatures and the high area level ? I thought that the countess is the ultimate rune-find-place...

I just went through "the FE bug guide" and found this:

Second, there is the never ending argument on other FE uniques than ancients. Few people reported none ancients bosses carried the bugged damage. However, it is a rather rare event, and very hard to verify if not impossible.

Happened to my two previous level 50-55 assassins.
1) I was at Travincal fighting the council. It was a nightmare game and the last of those dudes got surrounded by my shadow master and henchman. I thought that i will quicken it up and join the fun so simply kicked him in his face... and died. I was at full life (over 800 hp for sure) and around 60% fire resistance. I died instantly.

Ok , so i thought, my mistake, i should have maxed my resistances.
And here we go again:

2) Arcane sanctuary, max resist, max life. I kill some unique liche with FE and die. Just like that. Puff :/

After that i got seriously scared of all those FE monsters and really keep an eye on them. The funny thing is that the hell ancients that i was fighting yesterday were as well FE. Did nothing to my assassin, but i've spotted it too late too dodge. Hmm ... lucky me i guess..

The Countess in Hell is by far the best place to find any rune up to Ist which come from her special drop. She's not any better than normal monsters for runes above Ist. She can drop up to Lo, but that's not from her special drop. You're much better off farming areas like Chaos Sanctuary in Hell and doing chest runs for high runes. Note that chest runs are incredibly boring but they're by far the best way to get high runes consistently (every 200 runs or something). Chaos Sanctuary in general is just the best place to find stuff. The ghosts do have an increased rune drop rate but I don't consider that a motivating factor.

As far as FE goes, I have no idea why you're dying so much. If you're not using Fade then that would explain it. Fire Enchanted monsters explode with both a physical and fire component. Having DR% will also take more punch out of them.

I use fade only on occasion, burst of speed is much much better for my build. This was a bug, not even 50% damage reduction would have saved you from that. Things like that happen, especially on nightmare difficulty as far as i know. Now im much more cautious, I guess, I've learned my lesson.
