help with orb pvp!

Hi I'm new to the forums. I just created an orb pvp. She is wearing:

shako
oculus
3 cold skills amulet
viper magi
vescruent (sp?)
rare boots with resists
2 mandal heals
gloom's trap
and frostburns

she has approx. 750 life and 600 mana at level 66

I maxed orb, icebolt, i put 1 point into all the prequisits and 2 of the frozen armors, and right now i have 9 points left over. what should i dump them into?

i heard of the energy shield build w/ orb, but I'm wondering if there is any other viable pvp build to accompany orb.

Also, i have about 20 stat points left over. I put around 60 into strenght, none dex, 100 energy, and leftover into vitality. Should i put there 20 into vit for more life or start to dump into dex for block? I heard mixed opinions about block, and i really want to know which is better. If I do get block I was thinking about sanctuary. If i get sanctuary, which shield is best to make it in for lowest strenght and good block?

Thanks in advance for helping, I hope someone makes me clear on this build. :flip:

hi
IMO you have 4 options
1)Max a cold armor
2)Dump points in warmth
3)Max telekinese (for energy shield)
4)Max ice blast (if you use it , that is)

u only maxed orb & ice bolt? what about mastery? warmth?

skills on my pvp orbsorc :
1) cold
max ice bolt
max orb
max mastery (pvp so really need that maxed)
whatever's left in shiver armor (lvl34 now with bc)

2) lit
1 point in static, telekenesis & teleport

3) fire
max warmth (teleport is mana consuming so cant afford to run out of mana)

@leftover statpoints :
~600 mana is enough i think, just put the rest into vit :)

yes i forgot to mention cold mastery. i have 15 points into it, and my items add up to make it 24. im asking, why cold armor maxed? what is its benefits once maxed?

i still need advice about shields and dex. thanks for the ones who replied.

cold mastery pierces enemy res, for pvm u shouldnt go higher than 100% but for pvp there are a lot of res stackers around so u need maxed mastery to be able to dmg res stackers with absorb

*edit*
bleh, i'm guessing that 100% i said isnt accurate, i'll go search around, forgot what lvl it is & how much -res u need :(

Unless your amulet has FCR on it, you're just short of the 63FCR breakpoint. I'm not counting any FHR, Shaeling the armor and helm plus a small charm will cut your recovery by 6 frames. Definitely finish maxing Cold Mastery. Besides dumping points in Cold Armor or ES/TK you can dump them in Teleport, depending on your mana base this can be more effective than Warmth. The Visceratuant requires 178 dex at level 65, so I don't think you can block on this sorc and your mana is pretty good, so dump the stats in Vitality.

200% Cold Mastery is the maximum for PvM. That will reduce every non-immune or broken-immune to the -100% resistance cap.

wow, thanks guys that helps a lot. I wonder still because vescruent(sp?) is not going to be my end game shield. I will switch to whatever is better. So is there a chart that tells me what dex for sorc is needed for what shield? Anyone can you tell me if i really need block to be good in pk or not, and which would you choose, block or vit?

going for block or vit depends on how u play

if u like to stand still for a sec & want to be able to take a few punches u should go for storm & max block
but as u allready pumped vit i doubt u have enough dex left to have max block so imo u should go for high fcr (63 or 105) & put everything in vit

teleporting & doing orb in between needs some training tho, doesnt work that great with 1 try

You don't really need to max warmth. If you teleport all over the place placing some more points into teleport can give you a better effective mana regen then putting points into warmth. This really depends on how large your mana pool is , because at some point putting more points into warmth is more benefitial then putting them into teleport.

really? hmm, never noticed tele needed less mana @ higher lvls

but ehm, lvl43 orb needs 46 mana & i think maxed warmth is pretty useful for that :)

(1072life/608mana without bo btw)

Well a lvl 1 teleport requires 24 mana. A lvl 24 teleport and higher requires 1 mana per cast. Now if you teleport at least 2 times per second (the average usually is higher , more to 2.5 to almost 3) Putting more points into teleport can mean an almost effective 10 mana per second more regen. Because you are using less.

And since warmth has deminishing returns , sometimes putting points into teleport will give you a better effective mana regen then warmth.

By deminishing returns I mean the following.

0% mana regen = 120 sec to fill up the mana orb.
100% = 60 sec
200% = 40 sec
300% = 30 sec
400% = 24 sec
500% = 20 sec
600% = 17.14 sec
etc , etc ,etc. :D

As you can see , the difference in warmth and time to fill up your mana orb gets smaller with more points.

so right now, at lvl 66 i have 20 stat points left. At level 80, i would have 120 more stat points, so 140 in all. 140+the initial 25 (i think) will equal 165, which is enough for good block with a good block shield right? So if i keep vit the same till 80, i will have aprox. 800 life, 680 mana, and 75% block, but if i continue vita, i will have aprox. 1000+ life, 680 mana, 0%block. which is better?
