Help With My Sorc Running Hell Meph

I have a level 82 meteorb sorc who's gear is:

TarnHelm with a Ptopaz socketed.
A Rare +1 to sorc skills ammy with +19res
Perfect Skin of the Vipermagi with another Ptopaz
An Occy
Lidless
Magefist
2 Nagels(23% and 30%)
Waterwalk boots

My merc has:
Vgaze(not sure %, hes dead atm.)
Durry Shell
Low Insight in a Voulge

Now I can run hell andy fairly easily with a few cold orbs and some FB's.
I can't for the life of me get hell meph though. Im thinkin I should just get a better weapon for my merc and that might help alot, but what do you guys think?:coffee:

What is your skill allocation?
Total health?
Resists in hell are 74 + 30 from saving anya quests so you are at +4 with all resists right? Thats low...and personally I would lvl more if you really want to farm meph reasonably well.

You can avoid all these questions of course if you use the moat trick, which you use right?

Yeah i have to use the moat trick or else i cant kill him but im not that good at the moat trick yet. lol

My skills are:
20 Orb
7 Cold Mastery
20 Fireball
20 Meteor
1 Fire Mastery
16 in Fire Bolt
and all the preq's

I have around 1k health.
and i have 3 5% res charms i forgot to mention so its 19% res.

I guess I will have to stick with the moat trick or just level up more then?

Practice the moat trick go on youtube and type diablo 2moat trick if ur looking for pointers i saw 2 videos one had better technique the other worked just as well. I would lvl just a bit more though if i were you 82 is low, but thats just my opinion.

ditch the merc until you and him get a little better gear. i suggest you get him a shaftstop if you want him to tank because meph has a mean pimp slap. also he needs a bit more lifeleech.. try bonehew, unique ogre axe, double amn'd for an additional 14% LL and damage.

you can actually get a little closer, you just need to hide the top of meph's head in order for him not to target you. also stand a little further to the left so you don't attract hydra's from the council members if they happen spawn close (about 1/4 of the time in my experience). if they drop hydras, teleport down and have them chase you away (you MUST get the boss council member to follow you or the others will run back).

i recommend also going to hell act 1 and try and gamble a wand from akara with lower resist charges to put in your weapon switch... will speed up your kill rate a LOT and also give you a nice counter for how many meph runs you've done

eventually you're going to want to drop the skin for a skulder's or a 4ptopaz armor for the extra 96%+ MF, as i suggest you have around ~300% MF. you have already hit the 63% fcr breakpoint so you won't be getting hit teleporting in durance and if you're using moat trick, what point are resists?

I did some baal runs and im now level 86 and the moat trick is actually pretty easy to do for me now. thanks
