Help w/ Character & Build for LL Hell Run

Back in 1.09 I played a character to see how low level I could be and make
it through the game (must get all WPs and Quests). I ended up dying to NM
Ancients at L18. I'd like to try something similar in 1.10, but I'm not
interested in starting from the beginning. Rather, I thought I'd just try to
get through Hell.

So what Level, Character and Build do you think I should try? And any
suggestions as to gear?

I'd like to start out in the 30-40 level area if practical. That will give
me access to all the skills and a good selection of items. I figure with the
level difference, a melee/missile character would be impractical.
Particularly for act end boss's where ITD doesn't work. So that cuts down
the possibilities considerably. Teleport would be invaluable for this
project, but a Sorc is mighty fragile. BS is magic damage so that might be a
way to go, with some sort of Marrow wearing Cheezmancer (oops, L66 for
Marrow, scratch that). Or is there some mid level bow that would make a GA
Zon able to kill?

For now I'm thinking about a L42 FB Sorc. That'll give me 49 skill points,
so: max FB and Bolt, one in Warmth, Armor, Teleport, and Mastery, and a few
in Static. Add in a wand of LR and I should be able to kill nonFIs. L42
opens up some nice items for her too like an Occy and Skillers. For a merc,
I think anything but maybe an A3 cold guy would be useless.

So what do y'all think, any suggestions?

How did you solo anything in nm at lvl 18? But on build i'd go for a javazon, using a pair of Eth titans and reg titans.

I didn't kill anything that I didn't have to. Lots of herd and park. I actually killed NM Diablo at L14. But it was getting quite tedious at that point. Nilathuk was a real bugger, so I ended up leveling from 14>18 so I could use a 6 P.Em. bow. That made it much easier (but poison has been changed in 1.10, so I can't use that trick any more). But at the Ancients I got one hit killed by the leaper guy (after killing the whirler).

Javazon is a possibility. But I'd be in trouble wih LIs that I can't break with a wand of LR. Then there's the whole problem of actually hitting anything given the severe level difference between me and the monsters. And Diablo has had his blocking increased in 1.10. Add that into his increased regeneration and I fear making any headway would be tough. Maybe toss poison gas potions in conjunction with javelins to counteract the regeneration.

Thx for the suggestion.

I commend you man. Doing that in 1.09 has to be one of the biggest challenges there was in 09.

isn't it now not possible to become a guardian lower than level60? With a level42 character, you'd get to (theoretically) hell ancients before you were unable to continue.

What about a Summon necro...not to many physical immunes. and a few into CE isnt bad either to speed up killing. Also have good items around that lvl like homluc Arm of leoric i think? and at 45 you can get a plus 3 summon ammy.

Your skeletons are the same level as you, and as such wouldn't be hitting much in hell.
It's possible to leech Baal from town to get around level restrictions, but I think that might go against the concept of what you're trying, and it'd also be rather difficult to find a Baal for Quest type game in Hell, so you'll probably end up having to be 60.
Let's see...
Barb - Howl + Warcry + Zerk for things you have to kill, possibly grim totem
Necro - All sorts of not having to kill things curses, you're left with needing something to kill bosses with though
Sorc - Can teleport through without needing to kill anything, but you need some good gear to do it with
Trapsin - Mindblast is my favorite crowd control skill in the game. LS good for taking down bosses. You could also try a kicksin and load up on CB and be even better at taking bosses down, but less effective if you came to an area with lots of monsters that need killing (IE minions leading up to baal) as although MB is good at controlling them, it's not huge at herding them away.
Pally - no real crowd control aside from BH which sort of kills the crowd
Druid - Ditto except with hurricane instead of BH I think

Actually, you can build a L1 guardian if you want, it just takes a little cheeze. So I'll have to get the WK2 WP then back track to the Summit.

Someone on another forum suggested a Skellimancer, 40 skills will get you max skellies. I'm just unsure about what level the skellies use for 'to hit' purposes. If its tied to character level, the big difference could make hitting a problem. A BA merc and a Beast Iron Golem might solve that problem. And Amp should break most PIs.

If you're interested in the whole story, search back for posts my me with the keyword Limbo_Jr. Though the posts may have been old enough to have been lost in the forum change. If so, let me know and I can give you a Google link to other forums where I posted it.
