Help!?!? Thanks!!!

First off thanks for all the posts and responds before hand.

Ok my girl has a serious Virus on her computer and she dont have any Virus Scanner/Protection... Nada! I have recently bought Norton Antivirus 09 and I tried to install it but It her XP home edition requires a upgrade to Service pack 2, but for some reason it wont let me install the service pack from microsofts download page, it just wont load the download screen says "page not available". Her Computer is acting very slow and Warnings are popping up all over the place the virus it says is "Win32.Banker.FS. Also it says the task manager has been disable my administrator. Now If I were to format the drive how would I go about doing this? Seeing as how she does not have the software to reinstall it, I didnt want to do that. For the time being I have just now disconnected her from the net and ran msconfig and disable everything from the startup. The only files are commands that are running now are:

ofeduxotoyeful (rundll32.exe)
Emonowukat (rundll32.exe)
Winlogon (winlogon.exe)
1025b (1025b.exe) in the system32 folder? 2 of the same file are running on this one and im not sure what they are. everything else is diabled for now, it also wont let me boot up in safe mode itll keep restarting. Any help would be greatly appreciated to get her back up and running, thank again guys!

Re: Help!?!? Thanks!!!

you could download service pack 2 onto a thumbdrive and then move it over to her computer and install it

Re: Help!?!? Thanks!!!

could take it into a computer place that deals with viruses and other stuff. but, it is really expensive....i've had a bit of recurring virus-comp problems too...

makes me wanna be a cop and hunt down all the people who make viruses and damage my property...my computer...

i mean if people did the same damage to your car that these hackers and virus makers do to millions of people...maybe there be some action against them...

so irritating...when some jerk wrecks your comp for some cheap thrill of making some kinda virus program that beats the computer or computer protections..

and it's really frustrating when u know nothing about computers or viruses or anything...

Re: Help!?!? Thanks!!!

first
if is there anything on the system that you need
documents, pictures, music ect...
see if you can burn it to a cd/dvd or put it on a usb stick

is it a prebuilt system?
(hp, compaq, dell, acer ect..)
if yes
try this
restart the computer, after the screen goes black, read the screen, it will say a press a button for system recovery
common ones are F10 or ALT+F10 or F8
follow the prompts to do a destructive or full system restore
this will reformat the dirve partition and all data will be lost

that doesnt work, or it came with system restore disc or windows setup disc put the disc in the cd/dvd drive and restart the computer
it will ask to press a key to boot from the setup or restore disc

follow the prompts to do a destructive restore or reinstall windows and reformat the drive
if you have a network cable connected let it do windows updates while installing windows
that should let it get sp2 and sp3 before it can contract any virus/adware from the internet

norton is good, but will bring the system to a hault whenever it does updates or scans
sometimes without warnings
use it as a last resort

spybot works much better imo, just be sure to update, immunize and scan about once a month

Norton is a cure that's worse than the disease.

Are you sure it's a virus? They're actually pretty rare these days. The harmful ones are, anyway.

Try downloading AVG and see what it picks up, it's actually quite nice for being free. Not sure why you were unable to download SP2 other than SP3 is out...

Re: Help!?!? Thanks!!!

Hey folks! First off thanks for all the responses I really appreciate them. I was able to put Service pack 2 on a portable drive and install it on her computer although it did not go well as expected. The computer would boot up and go into windows but not in safe mode. Windows was freezing up no... I was able to Install Norton and do a scan only finding a couple of low risk cookie infected files. So with the freezing continuing, I decided to try the step ffejrxx provided and after hours of working and scratching my head the non destructive system recovery seems to have restored it and is working fine... I just now installed Service Pack 2 and Norton Antrivirus 09, I am now doing a full system scan. I have heard good and bad things about it, but its better then nothing being on there. Again I appreciate all the comments and help hopefully this will keep it stable and clean.
