Help please

Not really sure if this is the right forum (didn't see a support one), but I have a quick question. When you're installing Diablo II classic, do you need the play disc? The other day my little sister left the play CD near my desk and I ran it over with my wheelie chair that night and cracked it in half. My install disc is still fine. I'm wondering if I have to buy a new copy of D2 to be able to install it in the future, or if I can get by just using the install disc? I don't need the original play disc for playing because I have LoD.

Thanks in advance.

you might need the play disc if you had to install classic again, otherwise you'll be fine playing since you'll only ever use the LoD disc

so yea, you might need a new copy if to install in the future, IIRC

YYRC, Ash. Yes, You Recall Correctly. You need the play disc to install the game, and you need it again to install the expansion.

But if you are only playing LoD anyway, you only need to get a new copy if you plan to install it in the future. Which you are probably bound to do, of course. You'll never know when you are going to reformat your hard drive, or when you are going to get a new computer. Don't worry too much though, DII is fairly cheap nowadays, and having a second cd-key is always nice as well.

One time my friend had to install d2 on a computer and he had lost his discs, so instead he somehow burned the D2 directory to a couple cds and copied them to the freshly formated system. It seemed to work fine for him. Just another option if it comes down to it you could give it a try.

If you want to avoid repurchasing the cd, copy your entire Diabloii Directory from your computer to some cds. Also you will need to export all Diablo2 registry keys, as far as I know your cdkeys are held in here somewhere as well as additional information and you will need them if you want to get back on B.Net. Using regedit will work fine. But hopefully you won't need to reinstall.
