Help needed with Sorceror Orbs

I am currently compiling a list of all the usefull staffmods able to spawn on class-specific items. Since I haven't played all available builds of all characters, I am gonna need some help.

Which staffmods (and coupled if neccessary with affixes, type, look, color) are needed for a Sorceror Orb in White/Blue/Yellow to be of any value (ie. to be superior to a unique like Oculus)?

Example: For a Lightning Sorc, an excellent blue orb would have +3 Lightning skills (Powered) prefix and 20 fcr (Magus) suffix with staffmods +3 Lightning, ...

Only orbs, or do you want staves too? Even if staves are not class-specific, some can be top-end (or very near to top-end) with the right staffmods.


Enchant:
Magic: Volcanic (+3 Fireskills prefix) Orb, with a +3 Enchant staffmod, and preferrably with some +Fire Mastery too. (sidenote: I've been searching for one of these for close to a year and not one has dropped with Volcanic & Enchant combined, let alone +3 Enchant and/or with FireMastery on a Volcanic orb. They're hard to find.)

White/Plain: +3 Enchant, 2-socket staff. These can make a 'Leaf' runeword for a very cheap +6 to enchant, and as a bonus they can be purchased from Drognan in Act2 Normal... not quite top-end, but for the relative ease of availability, a very nice option.


Energy Shield:
White/Plain 4-socket staves with +3 Energy Shield staff-mod. Making 'Memory' in these will yield +9 Energy Shield total (higher than any possible orb+shield combo). If you're lucky, the staff will also spawn with one of the cold armours, or maybe Thunderstorm (for the PvP crowd) or Enchant, or some other spell that's good for pre-buff.


Volcanic/Powered/Glacial of the Magus
... with +3 to a staffmod of a "good" skill within the appropriate tree. For example, the aforementioned Volcanic orb with +3 Enchant, or Powered with +3 Lightning. I'm a little reluctant to include 'Glacial' in this list, since a Death's Fathom might remain a better option than any 'Glacial' orb.


Rare Orbs with a total of +5 to a good skill and also containing other good mods. It's hard to generalize these, but, for example, you might come across a rare orb with +2 sorc skills, +3 Fireball, 20 FCR, resists, +life/mana/energy, and/or 2 sockets, or something like that. They're hard to find, but very nice when you do.

Here's the closest example that I have, and it's predominately a twinking-weapon:

This type of post is pretty much exactly what I'm looking for.

My aim is to create a list of desirable affixes/staffmods/automods on items, so the unexperienced player may be able to distinguish a great item from a junk item simply by a quick glance through the tables. I often see questions in the PC forum or posts in the showoff threads with vendor-worthy (is that a word?) items. My list is aimed to help players without experience in any/all class/build, to quickly determine items of interest.

My current list can be found here. Hopefully I can get enough comments to make the list reflect the general view of the community on what makes items valuable.

Hope this explains my current spammage of class forums.
