help me out with my build

this is my first ever character. my friend recomended i make a sorc for mf'ing, so i did. he donated alot of good equipment (sutch as a sculders ire, and occy) for free, but i think i still managed to screw this char up. the blizzard seems to be pretty weak compared to allot of people i see posting around here. i wasted allot on fireball and warmth (i thought i would be a fb blizz sorc but it didnt work out). some hints on how i could make it better or what i could do better next time i make one would be greatly apreaciated. thanks in advance for your time.

my blizz sorc

U only have 2 hard points in Cold Mastery, I would spend a fe more points here.

All synergies add 5% cold damage - Only real points you put in count, I noticed you have +6 to cold skills.

Therefore your real synergy bonus is less.

You will probably get to around Level 93 - Thats about 16 more skill points that you will have to allocate. How many points have u spent in the lightning and fire trees?

I would put all points from now on in, into making your blizzard stronger.

cold mastery is one candidate - 10 Points perhaps
Plus the synergies to blizzard - 6 points perhaps

A fully pumped up Blizzard requires 100 skill points
20 in blizzard, 20 in each of Ice Bolt, Ice Blast, Glacial spike. and 20 in Cold mastery.

If you wont get close to this 100 point figure I reccomend rebuilding your sorc. Unless you are happy with your current damage output.

If you are happy with damage and just want to tweak a bit more damage, then add a facet to your occy to get another 5% damage and -5% to enemy resistance.

what do you have in your current gear setup?

I would socket skullders with P/Topaz, and your helm with P/topaz.

For MF

Keep Ali Baba on switch (if u have one), if u can spare some 1ST runes this works well, if not then socket any other weapon with 3 - 4 9% jewels on switch for final kill.

i think i will eventualy rebuild but this will have to work for now, i will take your advice with the rest of the stat points. how mutch do those alibabas cost? im at about 250% MF and i hear it should be around 400-600. is that a good space to shoot for??

yeah deviantart :D

people argue a lot about how many points to put in cm but i strongly advise to get to 17 with +skills. blizzard's shown damage isn't that awesome but cm makes it incredibly strong. reason not to max cm is that above a certain lvl it won't have any effect because of min cold res caps on 75% of all monsters.

imo fireball isn't that suitable as backup attack cuz it need lots of points in synergies. i had a blizz/firewall sorc with tal's and she really killed VERY fast.

some thread proofed that full tal's is more effective for mf'ing than the standard shako/occy/tal ammy/tal armor/tal belt combo when considering diminishing returns on mf and killing speed (-% on tal orb especially). so you might consider that also.

imo there is no need at all for 400+ mf. get ~300 and you'll be fine. anything above is either pretty expensive or sacrifices killing speed.

MF, haha, this is always a fun question :)

250% is a nice start I would encourage you to build this upto 350% over time.

If you can kill easily, then increase your MF
If you find that you are dying, or doing slow runs, then reduce your MF and increase your damage/survival gear.

Most pro MF'ers go for 500-600% MF

Personally I have 660% and find that this is a good level, to be honest I dont find that many more items than when I had 350% due to diminishing returns.

A friend of mine uses 900%+ with his Orb/FB Sorc + Merc Combo. And swears by it.

In conclusion,

work to have a minimum percentage of 350%

Once you increase your levels to around 85-** then you can afford to pump that to around 450%

When you are around 89-91 Then you will no doubt want to tweak your gear for a bit more MF and should target the 500% mark.

Anything after 500% by most is considered wasteful, unless you kill really easily then you might go for 600%.

Lets face it if u kill easily, then you might as well keep increasing your MF, every single Percentage point you have helps ;)
