Help...i will worship the one with the solution

hi, i used to play diablo ii lod for 3 years, but quit and ebayed my account right before 1.10. i recently decided to come back and start fresh and finally try 1.10. only when i installed the game and tried to connect to battle.net, it made it all the way to "Checking Versions..." and just kept on with "........." endlessly, figuring it was just being stubburn, i went and manually downloaded the 1.10 patch from Battle.net Website. Restarted My Computer, and tried again...to no avail... Still Goes To "Checking Version..." and goes on forever. i posted this problem on the GameFAQS.Com Forum and after a few responces, a guy said "I had the same problem, the fix was to open the appropriate ports on my router/firewall. They are 6112-6119, and 4000 (all TCP)." Well thats all gravy...but unfortunatly he didn't stick around to tell me how to do this...can anyone help me? It Would Be GREATLY Appreciated. Thanks in Advance...Ph3n0m.

If you have a router, you'll need to find out its IP address. Usually, the default is 192.168.2.1

Just stick "192.168.2.1" into your browser, and you should be at your router's setup page. It varies per router, but if you look around there, you might find something on port blocking. If you do, try unblocking those ports.

I'm only getting D2 on ports 6112 and 4000 right now, but there may be others.

If you have a firewall enabled, try disabling it and trying to connect again.

If you have broadband connection, there's a very good chance you have a router. If you've installed Internet Service Pack 2, then you have a firewall.

The address to access the routers system info (assuming you have broadband) will change depending on the router type (I have a speedtouch, and it's 10.0.0.138). If you know the brand of the router, you should be able to get the address.

Ok, this is how this works for WinXP, but I don't know if it's the same for other OSs.

Go to start -> run, and type in "cmd". There, type in "ipconfig -all". If you look at your 'default gateway' and the IP address associated with it, that's probably your router, if you have one. Type in that address into your browser and see if that works.

If "ipconfig -all" doesn't work, try "ipconfig /all".

No, I said to enter in the address next to the "Default Gateway" title(172.16.0.254), not the "IP Address" title (172.16.1.10).

172.16.x.x is a private IP address, which means you are on a router. So, try 172.16.0.254 in your browser and it should take you to the router's config page.

don't forget the http:// before your default gateway ip address. otherwise, you can't get there usually.

so go Start - Run - "htt://172.16.0.254"

That should take you to your router. It'll probably ask for a password. I don't know what Realtek's default password is, but i'd wager it's something along the lines of Username: Admin, PW: Admin.. or blank username and just admin pw.. if those don't work, keep on truckin'. you'll find it!

of course, sometimes it's just not an option. There's a Netgear router or two out there that, no matter what ports you open, won't run Diablo.

Kinda like how, since the latest Directx came out a few weeks ago, no matter what driver I use, my video card won't run diablo anymore :(
