Help: Hammerdin vs ES FB

Hi everyone, Ive having some problems with ES sorc with my PvP hammer and I figured I'd go here for some tips. Mostly i do Pubs, scince im not in any league or ladder atm, so there's 2 types of ES FBs I face, those who cant tank my hammers and those who can. The ones who cant tank hammers are no probs, I just name lock tele and hammer spam them to death. The tricker ones can tank my hammers better than I can tank their fireballs, which I never can beat. Sometimes I try out 2xDwarf Stars+Infernostride, which pretty much completly negates their damage, but I consider very that BM so I'd prefer being able to kill them without super sorbing & stacking.

Scince they tele arond alot I rarely get more than a single hammer hit a little now and then, and with slvl 30+ Warmth and 3k+ mana their mana is regenerated faster than I can damage (most pubers doesnt hesitate to drink mana pots either, especially not vs sorbers). Most duells never ends, we just tele around getting a few hits every now and then but nothing does any sagnificant damage. So how to kill ES sorcs? Poison is supposed to work, but there are no high psn damage weapons in the game that i know of, I dont wanna go to stash and switch 20xlife scs for 20xpsn scs everytime i wanna duell a ES sorc. Does open wounds work well? My current lvl is 90, so OW does Clvl=61-99: (45*Clvl-1319)/256, 45x90-1319=2731 damage over 8 seconds. Does this suffer from the PvP penalty in damage? So its becomes 2731/6=455 damage over 8 sec? Im thinking of having a Malice Runeword in a Pb or zerker for 100% Open Wounds and use charge, but is 455 dmg over 8 seconds any good? Is there any other way to go around ES?

you can desynch hammer and medi all day.
ow works so you can try greif charge them
and also if they dont heziate to drink blues you shouldnt hezitate to drink reds or purples. use 20life/fr or 20/5 scs and hotspurs, that should be good enought.

I suggest a scepter or pb socketed with ias/@ and 4 um runes and telesmite.

OW works wonders against ES.

When I duel es fire sorcs with hammer based builds in pub, 4/5 sorcs have no intention of doing anything besides teleing and spamming defensively. Hammers typically have difficulties dealing with these, as pure defensive sorcs will almost always be more mobile than a pally. Desynch hammer does work, but it will be long and grinding. Grabbing grief and charging usually works quite a bit against them. Just play a little like a libby against them. Don't really need to stack fire resists against them as fire sorcs do not have much -res. Stack about 20-30 over 90res and use hotspurs if you feel like it.

^Charge is better against sorcs imo. Fire sorcs typically have pretty decent fhr for smite fhr lock.

ow is subject to pvp penalty , thats why grief is better since you do some decent phys dmg too.

A good Es sorc is a Hammer's hardest opponent imo.



You either gotta saddle up and have VERY strong locks and good desynch, or you put on Grief and hope they aren't max block users. One piece of absorb is GM for you, so throw on those Hotspurs and duke it out.


There's not much I can say you help you aside from charge Grief, since if that doesn't work it'll be your skill in hitting them vs their skill not getting hit.

200fcr sorcs will almost never have max block. Other fire sorcs can have max block, but tele slower and are easier to charge. Not to mention even if they block, use the block animation to smite.

If they just tele around like morons just learn to chainlock.... it's not til they figure out to run that a sorc is tough to beat

Also, anything that passes es works well and those things are open wounds and poison lake they stated. It totally bypasseses altogether so its straight damage to them instead of 5% of the origional damage.

Also why these tactics work better against es sorcs than any other character is that many es sorcs have a huge mana pool since their es is taking most of their damage for them, leaving very little in terms of real hit points. So 455 damage may seem low but to someone with less than 1k life, thats almost half their life, add in sone psn dmg and you have the duel if you can stay alive long enough.

A slight mistake. The penalty for OW in PvP is 25%.

Also, you forgot to divide it by 256. And that is damage per frame, so multiply that by 200. So, your damage would be 2133.59376. Now, with 25% PvP penalty, that is cut to 533.39844.

And indeed, OW is godly against ES, as it works directly on their life.

Heh, yeah I know that psn and OW takes damage directly to their life ignoring ES, the reason i asked was that I wasnt sure the OW damage was high enought to be considered effective. Was also wondering if there are other effective measures scince 16+ seconds of bleeding gives a lame puber plenty of time to kiss akara.

Oh, i see, thanks for the correction. The damage isnt very different tho, ~80, but with that damage 16 seconds of bleeding should be enought to get their life to 1.

Ill try out both tele smithing and charging to see whats most effective to add OW with, charge opens up for a lot of desynching but can be blocked and is pretty buggy and out of control.

Spirit + Circlet + Amulet 10 fcr and a ring with 10 fcr = total of 75 Fcr. Equip Hotspurs, Grief PB and Draculs. Tele-smite them to pieces.
