Help: Fury Kept Dropping Me

At least I think it was me.

So story starts yesterday when I got the bright idea that I would go into a baal game and to cows. (no moron that will king you and crazy amount of drops)

so i joined near max people game -> made cow ->merrily join portal

and within the first strike, "your connection has been interrupted"

so i am like, WTF

okay, some moron necro must be using way too much minions, next game

okay, next game, join near max people game -> made cow -> merrily join portal

and within the first strike, "your connection has been interrupted"

....

face a little bit blue

maybe some OTHER necro running around with too much summons?

next game, join near max people game... blah blah same procedure -> "your connection has been interrupted"

uh... *confidence starts to waver"

so with 3 drop game in a row after the first strike, i decided to screw it and call it a night

so this morning (just like 30 min ago), i decided, let's try again

join max [skip] -> "interruped"

so i figure, okay maybe cow isn't a good idea, let's just do baal, i mean... eventually enough stuff will drop that i can get my socketables

join a run (held by "The" bot... haha i love that bot), did a few games, and it all went okay. but then, not enough people join, so i decided, this is ***... there is no drop

okay, other runs

so i joined another...

guess what happened?

join near max, enter throne portal, the 4th pack (high density lord), take 1 strike

"your connection has been interrupted"

WTeFFFFFFFF

omg, this percentage is too good. 100% drop rate for 1st strike in max people game when facing high density monster packs. is fury like a banned skill now that i am not aware of? i can't cow, i can't baal... might as well not allowed the skill all together.

I read somewhere that there was a dupe method that used the torchs CtC firestorm. Hence they put something in that if the torchs firestorm triggers too often, you drop. I wish they had just removed the freaking firestorm from it, since I've had this happen to me as well using my java and it's REALLY annoying. It's worse with a strafer though. The other thing is, that if you spam LF in a very crowded pack (cows) you can also drop, I've had that happen as well in full games. Too many LF bolts triggering = drop.

It never happens to me when I run solo, you might try it in a 4~ players game and see if it still happens. Less drops yes, but it beats being dropped from the game all the time. :grin:

Its not as if the Firestorm does any significant damage anyway. Nice idea for Blizzard to throw it in the hellfire torch but in this case, less is more

or just allow fury to work with firestorm, lol

sigh, i guess blizzard wnats to cut as much server capability and leave it to wow as possible

the dupe method you're thinking of had nothing what-so-ever to do with firestorm. the problems we're talking about are a result of blizzard "fixing" the lag dupe method.

Really? Eh, just something I read one day, don't really know anything about it. (I was seriously bored one day, so I was reading about old dupe methods, it's amazing the garbage that pops up when you search for "dupe d2" on google) Either way, we can all thank the dupers for making firestorm drop you from games. Well, and bliz for making quarter-***'ed fixes.

Razen, have you tried it in 4~ player games? Does it still happen? (my zon no longer has her torch, since the firestorm would occasionally kill guys in niths chamber and I'd get fried by CE or I'd test it myself)

Weird. I was in a 7 player game and was throwing Fury all over the place and into big packs and nobody dropped.

We had a summon necro, a charged boltress(These are almost as bad as LF as far as huge graphics on the screen go), an Orb sorceress, and a strafer. I can't remember the other builds, but they weren't really graphic intensive, so they're not really important to include in this situation.

It didn't even really make a difference in the Throne Room with Baal as far as I could tell.

Losing a bit of pierce (i.e. no razortail) can help if you need a torch equipped to use your eq or keep on dropping without the torch.

the dupe method you're thinking of had nothing what-so-ever to do with firestorm. the problems we're talking about are a result of blizzard "fixing" the lag dupe method.

A strafer using torch in cow level was the popular method to induce the necessary lag.

I actually quit D2 because of this. LF zons are by far my favorite build, and it was basically impossible to do cows or Baal runs unless I limited myself to one attack every 3 seconds or so, and that's without a torch. In the end, the hassle just wasn't worth it. But, on the bright side, I have more time to do other things now.

I actually quit D2 because of this. LF zons are by far my favorite build, and it was basically impossible to do cows or Baal runs unless I limited myself to one attack every 3 seconds or so, and that's without a torch. In the end, the hassle just wasn't worth it. But, on the bright side, I have more time to do other things now.

Well i just built a godly LF ZON with Griffins, COH and the whole bit, and i'm having the same experience, i can't even do a whole hell cow run without getting dropped, and i don't use a torch, it's pretty ridiculous, i guess i will stick to the XBOX 360 and wait for Diablo 3.
Diablo 2 is one of my favorite games ever, but it has so many glitches and bugs that some characters or almost unplayable.
