[help] I am finding myself unable to kill Duriel with a cold sorc at level 23. This is a hardcore character so can't afford to be too risky and single player so have to do it by myself. I have invested heavily in ice blast and can single-shot almost any mob. But when it comes to Duriel my poor defiance merc (my level) is killed in a few seconds even with me frantically giving him pots and I am able to land 5 or 6 ice blast which seems to dent only like 20% of Duriel's health. I jump to town, revive merc, but getting back in is incredibly dangerous because Duriel is right at portal and sometimes targets me first. Can someone suggest tactics please?

[question] Is it going to be easier later on in nightmare and hell after I get all those wonderful cold synergies or is it going to be this painful all the way?

help-i forget how well this works but you can buy a staff with blaze and run in circles
anouther option is to get your next level and blizz in the middle while you tele back and forth
question-once you get more fcr duriels a bit easier to get away from

If you aren't going to be an absolutely-pure cold sorceress, I would say just put a point into static field and spam that to kill Duriel -- he should go down really quickly -- as well as any other bosses; otherwise, try to find/buy an orb that simply gives +1 or so to static field, and then use it. Also, it will definitely get easier once you can learn Frozen Orb, which should take you through the rest of normal and most, if not all, of nightmare, as well as with the synergies. Once you get to hell, however, things will get a lot harder if you're primarily using just one elemental tree, due to the many cold-immune monsters in hell.

Yea, Duriel is hard for sorceresses at first so if your soloing, I'd static until merc dies in two seconds and then go blaze like the previous poster said. In nm and hell, hopefully your merc will be able to tank more so static + blizzard might be able to kill him before he kills your merc.

Yeah first time killing duriel I literally went to town 5 or 6 times to revive the merc
