This is going to sound odd but are you touching your computer when it shuts down or are you just sitting in your chair looking at it? I ask as I had an issue where I picked up electric charge from shuffing my feet on my rug, then touching my mouse shocked the computer into turning off or rebooting. Turns out I had to ground myself by touching a metal bookcase before using my PC. Odd yes, but it happened which is why I asked the question.

In a more normal vein of thought, make sure all other programs are closed (antivirus, malware detectors, email, Word, etc) before running the installation. If the PC stills shuts down I'd do a full antivirus and malware sweep and then run a scandisk on it before trying again. I am of course assuming you have a Windows computer and not a Mac.

    Re: help :D

have you tried installing other software, and making sure it's only a D2 CD issue?

Perhaps try disabling autoplay and running it manually might help

I know this may sound like an odd question, but when was the last time you cleaned the dust out of your computer?

I used to run into the same problem as you. You see, dust is building up in your comp, and running cds w/ your computer can overheat it. I just dusted my comp out w/ a blow dryer and some Q-tips. It did the trick.

If you run out of options, then go ahead and try to clean your computer out.

You used something that blows out hot air on your computer? Are you crazy? Haven't you ever heard of a vacuum cleaner, or one of those $5 cans of compressed air.

vacuum cleaners are bad, they cause lots of static, use an aircompressor

No, my blow dryer has a blue trigger like button that allows the dry blower to send out cool air.

    Re: help :D

Opt for a can of compressed air... the force it puts out is stronger and more fine tuned than a blow dryer. Just don't turn it upside down and aim it at anything comp related.
