    I think you have to totally reinstall the game to change your CD key.(not 100% sure)

    and Im pretty sure no one here will let you use their LoD CD Key mainly because people who got their account banned, or who want to use someone else's CD Key to try and Cheat on the Realms, have tried to get Ahold of CD keys through this forum in the past. Plus two people with the same CD Key cannot go onto the realms at the same time.

    Just re-buy LoD, you can get it almost anywhere for like $20 - $25 now

    Im still pretty sure no one will let you use thier cd key.

    plus the next time you get a game with a CD Key, I suggest writing it down and put it in a binder or a book and place it a bookself. that way if you lose the CD case you still have a backup copy of the CD Key.

    Sorry for your loss.

    Blizzard will send you a new cd in cases of stolen cd keys.

    However, U must send them yer cd + case w/ key to receive it from them. Looks like yer SOL and are gonna need to spend $20

    So... did someone steal yer cd key or did you lose it or would you like to make a third post with a different story?

    Could be both, i think my friend has it, or more the less... stole it. I dont really care what you think but i did come here for some help cause i thought the people in there would understand my dilemma. Of course i was wrong. If you dont believe me , look me up *smokey[dead]. I have two computers so i didnt uninstall lod on my old one.

    I love how 100% of the people who read this thread jumped to conclusions like this though, shows the true size of their character.

    There is some utility out there that will extract the CD key. At least that's what I read somewhere once upon a time. Just be careful downloading stuff like that.

    And when you come into these groups groveling for a cd key, expect the sarcastic responses.

    its not that we jumped to conclusions its what the people of the forum have decided that by giving out your CD key you can potentially help a Cheater/hacker further ruin the game.

    Yes... i already got it from a true friend... Thanks for the input though, i like getting flamed when I ask for help. I'm sorry my kind of help wasnt the kind that you could answer in a matter of minutes while you type your opinion on the matter.

    I see just as many good advice threads as flame threads here....

    Anyway, sounds more like you should be approaching yer 'friend' about the use of yer cd key, rather than coming here asking for a free one....If he is using it, he must have the key also....

    Well, if you already have it on your other computer, then you don't even have to be inconvenienced while your "friend" is away for the week. Instead of acting with righteous indignation regarding people who, not surprisingly, show some suspicion regarding someone who asks for a CD key because:

    1) ugh, some guy stole my cd key;

    2) My d2 messed up, whenever i see the d clone i get a error problem so i reinstall but then i forgot that i lost my case;

    3) I think my friend has it, or more the less... stole it; and,

    4) It is only on one computer and not the other;

    Maybe you could spend some time playing on your other computer or spend the some time wondering why you need to put your friends in quotation marks. For such a savy "guy", it would "seem" that you would "realize" that you can't just "change" your CD key, which you "apparently" did because "you" immediately ask for someone to "spare" you an LOD CD key after asking how to "change" it. But, hey, what do I "know."

    In other words, smokey, instead of jumping on your high horse, try to take a step back and figure out while people are suspicious. We are not jumping to conclusions when we don't give you one: we are just being careful, and well, sane actually. You would not give your cd-key to a total stranger either. Now calm down.

    Thank you, thank you . . . no autographs, please. I'll be here all night. Try the veal!

    Seriously, though, I am an avid, casual player . . . I have learned so much from this site about how to play this game and how it works and feel a sense of accomplishment when a character finally puts Hell Baal (and Hell Diablo, once upon a time) in his place. While I can't say why, it drives me crazy when I see people trying to scam others . . . especially on diabloii.net.

    Is it really such a burden to play the game through instead of spending time trying to scam other people out of their possessions? In the case of a CD key, it would be even more literal since once an unsuspecting "real friend" gives out a CD key, once it's banned, they have to buy a new disk or just stick with Single Player offline.

    OK, I'm off my soapbox, now. Been one of those days. . .

    Happy Hunting, all!
